Good Food in a Carnist Haven - Edit
First, I want discuss the decor. This place is built and designed for carnists first it is heavily decorated with cleavers and tenderizers and other meat paraphernalia. And the cheque was delivered in a slice of bone.
Read moreWe were greeted with some seasoned (vegan) popcorn and it was spiced with various Smokey and sweet spices. From the extraordinarily limited menu I had the beet salad (with no cheese), and the pizza. Despite the fact that this is a car ist haven they did not settle for mediocre and bland food. The salad had a good mix of textures to create an enjoyable mouth feel and the dressing ensured that the salad was very flavourful. The small pizza was a well crafted margarita style pizza and the cheese did not disappoint. The bread was adequate but did nothing to elevate the pizza.
The service here was an absolute 5 star knock-out especially the bartender. At no-point did they make me feel uncomfortable for being vegan. The bartendermade this delicious looking (non-vegan) drink when we requested it vegan he informed that too much of it was non-vegan so, he made us an off the cuff drink inspired by but different from the non vegan one and took all our picky requests with no-issue.

Vegan options are delicious - Edit
Although Cleaver primarily serves meat options the vegan options are amazing! I’ve tried the vegan pizzette, kale tempura, and the beet salad (without cheese) and it was delicious! The atmosphere in Cleaver always leads to a good time and the cocktails are phenomenal! Would highly reccomend trying the PPWP (Powerful Person With [censored]) it’s one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had in Calgary! Also the popcorn they serve to every table at the beginning of your meal is usually always vegan, which is an extra bonus!
