Delightful Durham cafe with amazing bread and lovely vegan options

My favourite cafe in Durham. The sourdough bread for taking away is to die for. And everything I've ever eaten there has been wonderful - pizzas, sandwiches, salads, khachapuri...they always have great vegan options. The owners are absolutely lovely and it has such a friendly community vibe, with a delightful little garden for the summer months. Don't hesitate to make the walk up the hill from the city centre, it's totally worth it!

Pros: Wonderful bread, Really tasty vegan options, Lovely staff

Amazing local cafe

We get bread from this deli very regularly as it is just so delicious! Great also for popping in for a coffee and vegan brownie or a bigger meal - has delish vegan sandwiches and staff are very knowledgeable about veganism.

Coffee break

We visited here for a well deserved break after a walk around the lovely streets of Durham. It would have been for a vegan brownie but sadly there were none available when we arrived, so an Americano and vegan hot chocolate it was. The coffee was great and was of a nice strength. The hot chocolate was very rich so a few sachets of sugar were needed to cut through but it nice nevertheless. Inside the decor is very rustic and staff are friendly, which makes for a relaxing stop off. If you are peckish there are also some decent vegan options available.

Pros: Nice coffee, Relaxing atmosphere, Nice staff

Cons: Limited cake options

coffee and vegan snacks

Nice place for a coffee and small vegan bite to eat. The menu isn’t hugely extensive but there is a decent proportion of vegan options. I like the interior which has an earthy charm. Their specialty appears to be their bread which was very good and the humous for my dish was delicious.

Pros: vegan options, delicious humous, down to earth and friendly

Rustically Good

Nice and rustic place serving nice and rustic food. We had a bread and hummus bowl with salad and bread with an extra virgin olive oil dip. Both at £4.50 and enough for a light snack. The coffee here is spot on, it really is good and there is a choice of plant milks available. Get there early if you want some vegan brownie. We were too late at around 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. Somewhere I’d like to return for one of the more substantial paninis with tofu perhaps.

Pros: vegan options , cool staff, nice interior
