Simple, neighborhood kitchen style eatery located west of Ci'en Temple, near gate 1. Menu is available in both book form and on the wall, in Chinese with images. Selection is extensive and includes Dongbei style vegetable dishes and mock meat/fish options. Hot tea is served with meals. Open Mon-Sun 10:00am-9:00pm.

Unassuming, but quick and tasty - Edit
A small home-style restaurant in the Ci'en Temple district. The menu is extensive and the prices are good. With limited Chinese language, we largely relied on photographs to choose, but you can't go wrong at a Buddhist vegetarian restaurant. In characteristic local style, the eggplant dish was not wanting for oil, but was tasty. The highlight was the spicy, crispy tofu with fabulous crunchy chillies. Portion sizes were generous, so we got almost two meals for the price of one.
Read moreWe were late for lunch by local standards, so can't comment on how it is when busy, but the food was prepared quickly and nicely presented. They also brought us a pot of tea that reminded me of genmai cha (with roasted rice), with a bit of sweetness added.

Pros: Delicious, all veg, Extensive menu
