Good ideas but execution can be a bit hit and miss

I've been going to Chutnej since they first opened as a pizza and burger place and love how they have evolved over the years. The krafin bakery is great and was a desperately needed addition to the Prague vegan scene. I like that they're trying to do more upmarket vegan food when no one else in Prague really is whilst still keeping the pizzas going via Hot Plants.

I've been to the most recent iteration of the restaurant a couple of times for weekend brunch and had specials. I haven't tried the new regular menu yet. The first time they had a mushroom skewer/kebab thing on with salad, flatbread and hummus. This was very good on the whole, especially when you got some charred bits on the mushrooms. My partner and I also got a plate of pancakes to share which were good. I went for brunch again this weekend and was disappointed. They had a goulash on and the sauce didn't pack a good flavour and the meat pieces were really small. I also got an apple strudel for dessert. This came out stone cold and the filling just felt like eating a raw cake. The pastry was soggy and it was served with a bit of warm custard. I don't understand why the custard was warm but the strudel was not. It was so bad that I didn't even finish it. The Brazilian lemonade was very tasty at least.

Service wasn't great today either, it was difficult to get anyone's attention and we had to go to the counter to order dessert.

I'll go back and definitely try more things and hope that they are more hit than miss.

Very very good

We had the iced matcha with potato milk. Pancakes was unbelievable. The omelet was extremely seasoned with so much flavor. The cruffin, raspberry with cream inside was the best. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come here again.

Exquisite

With every dish being full of flavor and taste, CHUTNEJ is a treat every time.

A big assortment of healthy options as well as more naughty desserts and baked goods mean I can come back here knowing that the range of selection is quite broad.

Hospitable staff and charming indoor decor and music only serve to enhance my stay every time I am here.

sweet café with delicious breakfast

The café is very nicely furnished, with lots of plants and beautiful decorations. The menu is very appealing, I opted for a bread, which was very tasty. The little Krafin were a dream in all 3 flavours.

Tasty breakfast

Unfassbar netter Service.
Inneneinrichtung toll - kostenlose Periodenprodukte auf den Toiletten.

Perfect Brunch Menu

We came to Chutnej for a take-away breakfast which we then ate in the close-by Letna Park.
Their brunch menu is really appealing, everything looked pretty nice. We finally decided for the Mungo Omelette, which was overwhelmingly good. Probably the best plant-based egg-related dish I ever had!
We also took some pastries and a tiramisu to go which were really tasty as well.
Next time we definitely wanna try out eating in the restaurant itself, because the interior looked super cozy, decorated with tons of plants. Service was also very friendly.
All in all, a truly lovely and amazing restaurant!

Pros: Amazing Food, Nice Service, Great Interior

Flavourful and interesting

We got the antipasti plate, the agnolotti, the peach salad.

At first glance you might think the dishes look plain, but they were so flavourful. Everything on the antipasti plate was delicious, even the carrots weren't just plain carrots, everything was full of flavour.

The agnolotti was delicious. I'm not usually a salad person but it was covered in dressing and every mouthful was interesting, no boring lettuce at all.

Tiramisu was the favourite though, perfect texture and not so sweet you feel sick afterwards.

We were also given a free chocolate krafin as we were leaving, I assume because it was the end of the night and they weren't going to sell it and omg it was so good.

Our waiter with the tattoos was so lovely too. Definitely recommend Chutnej

Best vegan restaurant in Prague!

Amazing food! Slightly out of the city centre but well worth the walk! Definitely the best vegan restaurant we went to.

We had a trio of starters - seasonal mushrooms, sauerkraut croquettes, and antipasti which featured local vegan cheese. They were all delicious, but the mushrooms particularly were really good!

The staff were very friendly too! They were kind enough to include an extra croquette for us as they weren’t able to do the two portions of croquettes we had initially ordered 🙏

Good

The service was very friendly but the food was not very interesting. We went for brunch and it was nice enough but a bit expensive and overall not very convincing. It’s a plus that they have the pastries from Krafin!

The desserts were nice but the gnocchi just okay

And I didn't see lasagne on the menu, so I couldn't try the dish all the reviews here are raving about. Maybe it's a seasonal thing?

great experience!

Had the vegan burger, cauliflower schnitzel, sauerkraut croquettes (starter) and a kruffin and tiramisu as dessert and it was so good, especially the burger and tiramisu.

The interior is beautiful and the staff was incredibly kind. In the end it cost 51€ for two people, including dessert, which is as good as it gets in a big city.

Pros: interior, okay prices, friendly staff

Pros: Neue Geschmackskombinationen, Netter Service, Schönes Ambiente

Cons: Portionen hätten größer sein können

Excellent Pastries and Breakfast

Amazing pasties from sister restaurant Krafin. Breakfast options also very good, but limited menu. Must visit here or Krafin for the pastries though!

Cozy and tasty

We came all the way across town because we were craving pizza, and we saw pictures of pizza here. Unfortunately, there was no pizza on the menu, but we found something else. The place is very nice, full of plants. The dishes are very tasty, though the pasta dish is much too small. The bakery items looked very good.

Nice vegan main courses

Had the seitan burger with salad and fries, and the cauliflower steak with salad. Good sizes and tastes. Perhaps a bot top salty for me but thats individual. Also offers pastry, various matcha drinks, alcohol etcetera. Seemed like a popular and busy place! Friendly staff.

Update: Came back the day after and had take away brunch in the nearby park. The best plantbased almond croissant I’ve ever tasted!

Small menu but delicious

There are not too many options to choose from but the variety is great nonetheless.
We went there twice and tried two main food courses and two brunch items, various drinks. The "sandwich" brunch item is a must, I've never had better.
The atmosphere and service are great, the place is very cosy, the servers are friendly and speak English.
No tips are included in the price (you can choose the amount as you like) and you can pay by card.

Chutnej 2.0

They don’t do pizzas anymore 😢 (you have to go to their 2nd place, Hot Plants, for their pizzas now) but I’d say their menu is more fancy now. Every dish we tried was really good and well executed but lacked protein !
The waiter was the absolute sweetest person I ever encountered in a Czech restaurant !

Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere

I was on the final day of my trip to Prague, and it was my birthday -- so I wanted to go somewhere special, and the reviews of Chutnej were all so positive that I decided to give it a shot. I wasn't disappointed!

First: I was there at 5 p.m. on a Sunday, and the place was quiet and relatively empty. The staff members spoke great English, and were attentive and helpful at every turn. The food was

I ordered gazpacho, sauerkraut patties, and the cauliflower steak, all of which were great. Both the patties and the steak were breaded and fried, so I probably should have gone with one or the other -- but they were both terrific, and the salad that came with the cauliflower was good, too. (I never would have thought of using sauerkraut in patties like that, and now I'm thinking about how to make them at home. The mustard sauce they came with was also terrific, and seemed to include vegan mustard.) I had an elderberry lemonade to drink that wasn't too strong or sweet, which was just fine by me.

I couldn't have asked for a nicer way to end my trip to Prague. I definitely recommend visiting this restaurant when you're in town, especially if you're in the area near the National Gallery Prague's Trade Fair Palace or the Letna Park overlooking the river, both of which are a short walk away.

Pros: Delicious food, Large portions, Great service and atmosphere

Beautiful place, food and staff

Located next to the biggest park on the north of the city, well worth it too, the place is very bright and cozy. It has many plants and the cave downstairs is amazing!
Food is really nice, including the housemade pastries. :)
Staff was very chill and friendly!
Totally recommended!!
