Amazing food and really decent portions for the price, which was unexpected given Ponsonby is usually expensive and you don’t get much for it. I had the tempeh bao buns and drunken noodles with fake chicken. Both were so good and there was plenty for leftovers too which is always a bonus ❤️

A full-page dedicated vegan menu with many options that made it difficult to choose. The presentation was beautiful and the food was delicious. Interesting cocktails, delicious wines, and all very reasonably priced.

We stumbled upon this place round the corner from our backpackers when we'd just arrived on a (very) long flight from the UK. It was such a relief to find a place with so many vegan options, and where the staff clearly take pride in offering the very best service. The waiter (manager? owner?) kept us constantly topped up with water, recommended us good meals well suited to our tastes, as well as some tasty beer. Given that we were super jetlagged and could barely order, he made sure we had a perfect evening. So good that we returned two weeks later before our flight home for another smashing evening! One more plus - this is an affordable establishment in what turned out to be a very expensive country.

Lovely lunch at Chu Thai - Edit
We were so surprised at the extensive vegan menus for a not fully vegan restaurant. We tried two dishes and both were fab - peanut sauce “chicken” and green Thai “chicken.” Clean place, friendly staff... Very happy to find a new vegan welcoming spot.

A lot of tasty vegan options - Edit
I have visited a few times for dinner, and every time it was really a great experience. We had tried a lot of different items from the vegan menu, and every dish was packed with fresh ingredients and flavourful seasoning. My favourite was probably the tofu "skins" on a fresh crunchy salad, with a very nice sweet and sour dressing.
Read moreThe staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and it's really very pleasant to dine on their little terrace, just off the footpath. Do try their special IPA as well (the Thai one with the crocodile on the label, not sure of the name!), it's a match made in heaven.

Thai restaurant with a fantastic separate vegan menu with lots of great options and very accommodating of dietary requirements in general. We were a group of seven that all ordered from their vegan menu and everyone was impressed. Food was absolutely delicious and service was exceptional. Highly recommended!
