Delicious vegan cheese! - Edit
Very laid-back atmosphere, beautiful interior, super friendly and attentive service and very delicious organic vegan food. Don't miss out on trying their home made vegan cheese! They are also one of the few vegan places in Kyoto to open early and have a breakfast menu as well, so this is a great spot to start the day.

Great cheese but expensive - Edit
Choice has some great vegan cheeses! Really nice to get the sampler platter. The ambiance was also quite nice and the staff was friendly. The only downsides were the price, which is a little prohibitive, the portion sizes were on the small side, and the cheese sandwich was lackluster. In the future I might suggest this place as a pre dinner stop to try some cheese before going somewhere else for the main course.

Real vegan nut cheese - Edit
After several disappointments in Kyoto (cancelations mostly) this restaurant made my day. I think this is second time I find a restaurant that offers real vegan nut cheese, the other was in Bangkok. Not only that, the cheese was delicious and prepared beautifully. Restaurant was also moderately spacious and the staff super friendly. Wish them big success in the business.

Take out cakes amazing! - Edit
Some of the best vegan cakes I've had! You can get the cakes frozen so that you can transport them home, or you can ask for them ready to eat. Take about 2hrs to defrost. Such incredible flavours and not too sweet. Just right in every way!
Read moreThey also sell vegan cheese wheels to take home. I highly recommend. Staff were lovely too!

Fabulous food and atmosphere and service - Edit
Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant .
Read moreWe had corn soup, French onion soup, Indian curry and rice, veggie pattie and salad, chocolate cashew cake, cheesecake and ice cream. All absolutely delicious, presented so beautifully! The service was so friendly too and the decor inviting.
I note Other people have said in their reviews that the staff aren’t flexible with the menu but we found them very accommodating when we wanted ice cream with dessert (no cornflakes). It was no problem at all.
Pros: Very comprehensive menu, Every dish exceeded expectations , Good value for money
Cons: Can’t think of any!

Nice place - bland food - Edit
I had taco rice which really didn’t taste of much but portion size was pretty decent.
Read moreMy dining partner had fruit pancakes which were kinda dry. The vegan butter and syrup made them moister. The accompanying fruit was not fresh and came out still cold from the freezer.
The vegan soft serve again didn’t taste like much.
Maybe it was my ordering that hit the wrong dishes but probably won’t return in a hurry.
Pros: Lots of vegan stuff, English speaking staff, Pleasant atmosphere
Cons: Bland food, Kinda pricey

Okay, bad coffee - Edit
Wasn’t anything special to be honest. I asked if I could pay extra to have icecream with the fruit pancakes & staff said no (they weren’t out or anything) . Considering I was the only one there you’d think they would want the money.. coffee was awful. I like my coffee strong but it was a border line undrinkable strength. Over priced for what it was. Cute atmosphere though.

Cute and cosy restaurant. English on the menus so not too hard to order, and the staff spoke a little English.

Good food, inflexible options - Edit
The food here was really nice but the staff were unable to stray even slightly from the menu my partner wanted ice cream with her pancakes but was denied, even though it came on a different set of pancakes. We offered to pay extra. They also wouldn’t do a cheese platter at 10:30 because they didn’t start lunch till 11am.

Amazing cheese for breakfast - Edit
We had the Plain Pancake and Breakfast Tomato Risotto for breakfast. Of the two the breakfast tomato risotto was far better. Loved the cheese and it melted perfectly into the rice grains.
Read moreThe pancake was less impressive, as it just tasted like a standard buckwheat pancake. Would recommend getting it with fruit or chocolate toppings instead!
It looked like it had a great variety of cheeses available too, and seems to be a community hub for vegan information

Best vegan cheese board - Edit
The 5 star review is really for the cheese board. Their homemade cheese are so unreal. I wish I was leaving the next day so I could have taken some of the wheels home with me..it’s almost indescribable.. just trust me and get it.
Read moreI also got the chocolate chip pancakes. I was really excited to get them because of the pics of it since omnis always post these fluffy pancakes I was excited to finally have a vegan one. This is a gluten free place so I shouldn’t be too critical on the fluffiness as I know it’s hard to do gluten free, but they weren’t that good. They were just ok and more so for aesthetic purposes. They were dry and grainy.. which I find a lot of gluten free things are since I’m not GF I’m not used to that texture. But that being said it’s a really cute spot and in an area with not a lot of other options.

Genuine Smiles - Edit
It's always nice to be greeted with Genuine Smiles @ a restaurant and the staff at Choice welcomed us with just that. Found this place on our last day in Kyoto if we had tried it earlier we would have gone there more often. Alana had the Quiche with brown rice, salad and soup, She said it was lovely, How they replicate the Quiche taste is a mystery by it's self. I had the Burger and salad. which wasn't huge but tasted delicious. The prices are quite reasonable if like us your traveling on a budget. Smiles and more Smiles
