absolutely delicious food for an all vegan wedding - Edit
Service: 5/5, Quality: 5/5, Value: 5/5
Read moreVegan Options: 4/5
Overall: The food was absolutely delicious and we contracted them for our all vegan wedding.
Further:
Service- Service exceeded expectations. Suzy was very helpful at every step and was very thorough and flexible with the contract so we knew both what were things we were going to need, and who was responsible for providing those things. Day of the wedding her staff was extremely professional and top-notch.
Quality - The food was delicious. We loved it as did our guests who were a mix of vegans and non-vegans. Before the wedding we did a sampling and liked a lot of what we tried. We were able to select what we wanted for the wedding and in the end everything turned out great. I will say that the portobello steak was something that was encouraged several times, and I generally dont like mushrooms. We tried it at the sampling and it just wasn't for us. We ended up doing the Chickie Seitan marsala as one of the entrees and it was delicious!
Value - Price per plate was fair for all the food/services, and looking at what some websites reports as the average catering cost per plate we paid less than the average for that year. We did go through the contract though and negotiated who was responsible for what and there were many things we sourced separately. This is the advantage of using a venue that didn't require the venue's catering service and this allowed us to use Chive/Suzy who were flexible. Keep in mind that if you have the money Chive could be a total package for you, but they would be renting tables/tents/etc on your behalf and you are paying them a premium to do that. You may be able to get some of those things cheaper by arranging directly. We contracted with Suzy to do a cocktail hour /w appetizers (delicious!), dinner, and a bar with staff to support these things.
Vegan Options - They have a full vegan menu from when they were a full vegan restaurant/caterer. I checked online and they still do offer the full vegan menu (or at least a substantial part of it). I rate 4/5 for full vegan menus, though, I am saddened that this is no longer fully vegan.
Pros: delicious, flexible, our non-vegan family/friends loved the vegan food
Cons: no longer 100% vegan but still has vegan menu

Review no longer valid - Edit
They aren't vegan any more and only cater, so my previous experiences don't seem valid anymore. Probably good if you need a caterer, but I don't have direct experience with that.

Agreed — Going Downhill - Edit
Sadly, I have to agree with the previous reviewer. Chive is going downhill. This used to be my favorite restaurant ever, a real vegan gem. The quality of the food reflects a different Chive altogether. I don’t even think you can compare it to what it once was. Mostly greasy spoon foods now. The salads are great, but pretty expensive for a “grab and go” item. When I was here last this summer, the staff just didn’t seem to care much, either. The atmosphere felt soulless,

One of the only fully vegan restaurants in the area with delicious food - Edit
Chive has a variety of vegan dishes. I ordered the nachos and chili and both were great. The prices are a bit steep, but vegan food seems to be nowadays. I would definitely go back, you just can't be cost-conscious. I do like the set-up of ordering your food and then sitting down with it.

Good, but quality going downhill. - Edit
We went there two days in a row, mostly because there really aren’t many vegan options in the area. Overall, the food was decent, but prices have gone up, portion sizes have gone down, and overall food quality seems to have taken a hit.
Read moreThings we ordered:
Spicy Korean Chicken Bowl - small portion size and very bland. It was just chicken, rice, a flavorless sauce, and 2 vegetables. 17 dolls for this felt extremely overpriced.
Buffalo chicken sandwich - tiny. Definitely not enough for a meal.
Reuben sandwich- best thing I had there. Good flavor, although it did not come with a side.
Buffalo chicken bites - dry and flavorless. No Buffalo sauce. Ranch was weirdly thick.
The best part about this place is the desserts and baked goods. We tried the s’mores bar and pistachio muffin, both were really good.
Aside from that, we did have some other issues. Ordered a lemonade and there was a hair in it floating in the liquid. Ordered a side salad and it never arrived. They weren’t busy at all, so not sure what happened.
Overall, this place is decent if you want some vegan food in the area.
Pros: Awesome desserts. , Good range of menu items.
Cons: Overpriced and small portions. , Food not seasoned enough.

Totally vegan - Edit
We dined here for the Father’s Day brunch event and the food was really good. Interesting menu of vegan bbq, charcuterie and sides. We dined outside. Chive is located in a strip mall which makes it convenient for it’s new catering/to go business model but I wish it were a sit down restaurant.
Read moreOn another occasion I ordered online and picked up sandwiches and salads and desserts. Once again the food was good but the dessert could have been better.
Pros: 100% vegan , Special event dinners, Catering/To Go menus
Cons: A little pricey , Not a sit down restaurant

The BEST Vegan Food Around - Edit
I miss the dine in resturant but it seems they are slowly working towards it again with some limited dine in options again. I have eaten here so many times with vegans and non vegans and nobody had a bad thing to say. Their soups and desserts are always on point. I am drooling just thinking about it. Who wants to go with me?

missing the old restaurant - Edit
the restaurant was wonderful and had a good rotating menu- their rueben was honestly my favorite out of the 5 different versions i've tried.
Read morethe online ordering is pretty good as well, although i was hoping they would have four person deals and instead it's just two person.
the deli part with ordering groceries is nice for those few things i don't find at my normal buschs however i did find their prices were a bit more then the grocery store.
Pros: good flavors
Cons: pre set up meals

Great Food. Need to expand the space. - Edit
Good food and atmosphere. Was skipped over whilst waiting for seating and had to bring it to the waitresses attention. My daughter thought it might be intentional but agreed to give the waitress the benefit of the doubt.

Best Vegan Restaurant in SE Michigan - Edit
I’ve been here numerous times and it is by far the best 100% vegan restaurant I’ve been to in southeast Michigan. Forget Seva. Forget Greenspace. Give this place a try—I highly recommend it!

Amazing meal and excellent service - Edit
Our first visit and the meal was really wonderful! Seasonings were excellent and well-balanced. The Hunny Artichoke appetizer is superb! We knew we were in a great place with the first bite. My Portobello Prime was excellent as was my husband’s Winter Stew. The Chocolate Beet Cake was huge and fabulous (no, you can’t taste the beets). Better than the best “death by chocolate” in my pre-vegan years! Our server and others who greeted and helped us were terrific. We were seated right away at 5:30 on a Sat night. Highly recommend.

My favorite! - Edit
Amazing brunch, dinner and drinks. We have never been disappointed. Their breakfast dish with smokey beans and artichokes is a standout. Please don't leave without trying the beet cake!!! We've had great service every visit. The patio is nice in the summer. It's a little pricey but so is everything in Farmington Hills.

Glad to have a vegetarian restaurant in Southeastern Michigan. We had a Michigan Dog with a side soup cup, Nacho-Rita, Green Tea Cooler, Lavender Mockuiri, and Chocolate Beet Cake for dinner outside in early August. Service was good.

We tried several dishes when we went for dinner awhile ago and everything was great. The nachos though were AMAZING! Their cheese on the nachos is what convinced me that plant based cheeses can be delicious. Highly recommend. 😊

OMG! Jalapeño Burger - Edit
On my 3rd visit to Chive Kitchen I opted for comfort food. I was starved. I ordered the jalapeño burger which came with fries. It was out of this world good. The burger held together perfectly. It bit like a regular meat burger. The patty was a generous size, and it wasn't dry like many plant-based burgers tend to be. All of the fixings on this burger were delicious and really hit the spot. The fries were nicely seasoned and delicious.

Best Black Beans Ever! - Edit
We were traveling, stopped in for an early dinner with family. We had 7 people, one omni within our group. Everything was fantastic. Seriously the best black beans all of us had ever had. Even my son who does not like black beans, liked them. All of us order different meals and tried everyone's. Our omni friend ordered the Ruben, although he said he could tell it was not corned beef, he said it was very tasty and could see himself going back to eat there.
