It was good! - Edit
There were plenty of vegan options to choose from. The staff was super friendly and seating plenty! Though there was no background music playing , it made me and my other introvert friend very awkward. But after a while we were lost in our conversations. Large portions are served so it's easy to share with each other!

Awesome - Edit
Really good Chinese food, for eating in or takeaway. I have eaten here or for takeaway many times and it’s always great. Yuan were pioneers 25 years ago with a fully vegetarian restaurant and they are still possibly the best restaurant in Flevoland for vegans. I don’t always love vegetarian but not vegan restaurants but Yuan really is an exception. There are so many vegan options, everything is clearly labeled.

Very tasty vegan Chinese food - Edit
We really loved the food we had over here. The Malaysian nasi was flavoursome with nice vegan chicken and not really spicy. The ‘sojarollen’ were also great: crispy on the outside and with a nice overall bite. The sateh was really good as wel. Go here when you’re in Lelystad!

Aanrader! - Edit
Geweldig restaurant, super veel keuze ook! Ook volledig plantaardige keuzes en gluten vrije opties. Personeel is ook heel vriendelijk en het is niet te duur. Ook normale portiegrootte, dus geen verspilling.

Lots of choice! - Edit
I went for the classic, tofu and veggies in vegan oyster sauce because I was starving and didn’t want to ponder too much. But the choice is really big. And my dish was very tasty, I would have licked the plate clean if I could, haha.

Nice people, good food. - Edit
These nice people deserve a much better place for their restaurant. The food is always delicious and always enough. Everything on the menu is vegetarian and can also be made fully vegan, which I think is rare for a Chinese restaurant. We've never seen one before. They work hard to not keep you waiting. We always have the vegan options and it's always very tasty. Love it!

Afgelopen periode twee keer eten besteld en laten bezorgen. Veel vegan opties (denk 95%?) en dit is ook duidelijk op de kaart aangegeven (maakt het makkelijk). Smaakt ook erg goed.

Best Chinese - Edit
Very good food. Vegetarian and Vegan only, and that is very daring for the Dutch market 👍🏻. I ordered too much food and just could not stop eating, I waggled home 😀.

Amazing! - Edit
Their food tastes amazing! So much choice on the menu, and always rich in flavor! Portions are large enough for one person, so no need to order multiple menus when you eat there. The staff is super friendly as well. Really recommended!

Bad for customer - Edit
We have been a customer here for 5 years. But being treated like [censored] after the conflict that at Christmas we had to wait for food for 2 and a half hours and there were no soya slices in food, so we waited over an extra hour for replacing food. And we wanted to give this restaurant an extra chance. We were waiting for our food one and a half hours today and we called the restaurant and were told that they had refused our order in connection with Christmas. Interesting! and also do not call in connection with refusal, and we had already paid!

Great choice great taste - Edit
Hidden in a sad 70s shopping mall is this great vegetarian Chinese restaurant. Most dishes are or can be made vegan. It's been around for 20 plus years but it seems there're not so many customers these days. Which is a shame since the food is great, there are many options too choose from and the people are friendly. Will be back. Hopefully more people will appreciate this place.

Great place! - Edit
I'm so happy to have this restaurant not too far from where I live. I was so surprised when I found out they are located in Lelystad.. the only veggie restaurant in this area.
Read moreAlmost everything is vegan or could be made vegan and they have deeelicious soy icecream.
My meat eating family loves their food too and they find it way more filling than the regular chinese food.
They definitely know what they're doing there..
The staff is friendly and so polite.
Try the babi pangang, tofu steak, nasi wit sate, soy icecream.
Pros: Food tastes amazing, Cheap, large portions, shared dining is a good idea
Cons: not that many tables, only open from 5pm, don't try the soup

Great choice in Lelystad - Edit
We've been living in Lelystad for more than 20 years and had never been to Yuan before.
Read moreI wish we would have gone here before. The food is excellent, the choice is extensive. They are a vegetarian restaurant but the menu clearly indicates which dished contain eggs and all can be ordered without eggs to make them vegan.
The portions are generous but we still managed to finish most of our dishes because they tasted so good.
The service is friendly and the atmosphere in the restaurant is good, no loud background music making it impossible to talk. When we were there was a mix of regular customers and people from out of town.
Now that we've finally been here we'll certainly be back. Great to have such a a good vegetarian & vegan restaurant close to home.
Pros: extensive menu and the option to have most dishes

Not the experience we hoped for - Edit
We ate here in August 2017. We might have not ordered the right things, but we didn't enjoy the food as much as we hoped for. We had eaten at three other vegetarian Chines restaurants in the Netherlands. Yuan ends up at forth place.
Read moreAmbiance of Yuan seemed a typical Chinese restaurant, which was fine.
We ordered sate and "dough balls" filled with veggies (spinach) for starters. We enjoyed the sate and sauce, but the other starter didn't taste that well, mostly because of the spinach filling combined with the spicy sauce (which we both do enjoy, but not in this combination).
As mains we had "veggy babi pangang" and "fried oyster mushrooms", served with rice and noodles. The first dish reminder me of the taste of the original meat dish (>7 years ago), but the "meat' didn't taste good itself, although the sauce fitted really well.
The fried oyster mushrooms were really doughy, but with this dish we had hoped for less sauce. We remembered some fried oyster mushrooms we had earlier this year in March, which had a really thin batter and were fried nicely dry, and covered in sesame seed, that we enjoyed a lot more. That was a different kitchen though..
All in all I would say the food was just okay, giving it a bit more positive swing than described above, just because Chinese veggie food is so enjoyable.
Can't help mentioning the rigid attitude of the person who waited our table when explaining things about the ordered food..
So all in all not the experience we hoped for, leaving it a fourth place of veggie Chinese restaurants, in our humble opinion.
Pros: Chinese Veggie Food
Cons: Food can taste better, Overall experience can be better

A classic in The Netherlands - Edit
Yuan - a classic in The Netherlands! Located off the beaten (tourist path) - 40 minutes by train from Amsterdam Central station - you won't meet too many tourists here. But I don't know any vegetarian or vegan from The Netherlands who does not know this place.
Read moreI don't come here often since I don't live close by, but once in a while I meet here with friends coming from all over the Netherlands. Mainly for special occasions (specially ordered buffets or Christmas dinners).
Apart from special events: Yuan has a huge - mainly Chinese - menu to select from and is still as good as it was 12 years ago when I went here for the first time.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
Pros: good food, nice price, friendly staff
Cons: not organic

One of the best! - Edit
Yuan is one of the best vegetarian restaurants we have ever visited. Food is fresh and very tasty. Vegetarian/vegan is easy to discern. Staff are friendly and pleasant. Prices are very reasonable. If you like Chinese food and want vegetarian, you will not be disappointed with Yuan!
