Good food and low price - Edit
I had rice with tofu and vegetables. It came with a free set of fermented side dishes. Optionally you can have the egg soup if your diet is not strict vegetarian.

This restaurant doesn't actually serve vegan options and the staff don't really understand the concept. Misunderstanding that vegan means you are fine eating fish.

We arrived quite late so were happy to see this restaurant was still open. The staff only spoke Korean but understood it when I asked for (pegan = Korean pronunciation of vegan).

Le staff m'a indiqué 2 plats qui pouvaient être vegan mais ils ne comprennent rien au veganisme et ne parlent pas anglais. J'ai expliqué ni viande, ni poisson, j'ai dû préciser ni crustacés aussi.

They don’t understand veganism - Edit
They gave us an English menu with a “vegetarian” section, but they are under the impression that vegans eat seafood as well. This is a very common misconception in Korea. I ordered japchae rice and asked for no meat or shrimp in it, and it still had a little bit of minced meat in it. Also, they gave me a small bowl of their jjambbong broth with two mussels in it. They’re trying, but it’s a bit of a shame.

Easy to communicate if you can speak Mandarin - Edit
Staff are accommodating of special requests (e.g. no alliums) and specially prepared dishes for me that aren't on the menu. Had mapo tofu rice set (sauce prob has alliums) and a simple bowl of soup noodles they made specially for me. They can speak Mandarin so that may make it easier to communicate your preferences if you can speak Mandarin too.

Decent vegan option, big portion - Edit
I wanted to order the Gan Jajiang but they said they couldn't make that one vegan/vegetarian.
Read moreI got the japchae instead, which was pretty good. The portion was huge and only 9000 won.
I also got some banchan but didn't eat the kimchi as I think it has fish sauce.
When ordering the japchae, make sure to ask if they can leave out any meat/fish. I ordered in Korean but they can speak a bit of English too.

Award winning Chinese restaurant that can customize one dish to be vegan/vegetarian - Gan Jajiang. Worth trying if you have not tried Chinese food before in Korea

Hard communicating - Edit
It was not all that easy to communicate with their server. I tried showing pictures from happy cow, and she kept insisting it was with meat! But we did get food, two different kinds - Gan Jjajang and Jjamppong. However they put in SO many onions. Gan Jjajang was definitely 90 percent onions! (The one they make from scratch and therefore need two orders to make).

Tasty and fair prices! - Edit
We went twice and had the Gan Jjajang and Jjamppong. Communication was a bit hard since no one spoke English but Papago helped us make clear that we want the meals vegan. Food was good and prices more than fair!

So yummy! They make good food here. Be sure to tell them you want vegan everything when you order. They can veganize Gan Jjajang, Jjamppong, mushroom tangsuyook. For Gan Jjajang, the minimum order required is 2 because they make the sauce upon order.
Read moreFor complimentary side dish, they provide danmooji (yellow radish) and raw onions which are vegan. The other two red side dish provided were not vegan so we returned them.
The place is kept very clean and owner is so friendly.
