Chinese food of my dreams - Edit
I had been wanting to visit this place for a while. On a return home from England to Belfast, I swung by late on a Saturday night. I was so impressed by the selection available and the lady at the front counter was so friendly. We went for a muchie box between 2 and it was huge. It contained, spring rolls, tofu salt and chilli, curry “chicken”, salt and chilli chips and a sweet and sour dip. Everything was super hot and fresh. I would love to go back, just a pity that it is so far away from me.

Probably the best vegan / veg Chinese takeaway in NI - Edit
This Chinese takeaway offers vegan munch boxes and vegan meat, as well as tofu, and by offering these simple things, has become the no. 1 Chinese takeaway in NI. Just for doing that!
Read moreThe small vegan box is good value and easily feeds 2 people, but its price has been steadily increasing these past few years and no longer represents world-beating value.
Pros: Great range
Cons: Cash only!

Loads of quality options - Edit
Couldn’t believe stumbling across the range of options, quality of the black bean was pretty good as well. Chips were class.

Honestly it's class - Edit
I'm sad I don't live close to this place, it's delicious and the options are great, not what you would expect from a wee Chinese in Finaghy

A huge vegan menu with mock duck, beef, chicken & pork (a wheat & soy mix textured different for each option) alongside tofu and veg options.

A solid offering for vegans around Belfast - Edit
My partner and I shared the Vegan Box (Small), which includes:
Read more• Salt and chilli chips
• Salt and chilli tofu
• Veg spring roll
• Vegan Chicken/Duck/Beef
• Tub of any sauce
You can change a main dish for a main dish, or side dish for a side dish for £1 extra.
We swapped the salt and chilli chips for fried rice (minus the egg). We chose Vegan Chicken in Satay sauce. For our tub we chose Sweet and Sour.
The veg spring rolls and salt and chilli tofu were the highlights for us - they were delicious! I’m usually a big fan of mock meats as I sometimes miss that texture being vegan, however I feel like the mock chicken from China Express was only “okay” (there are definitely better mock meats available).
I am very fortunate to have a a completely vegetarian/vegan Chinese back where I live in Gloucester, England, who seem to have nailed the mock meat game. I am aware of the wide variety of mock meats available at wholesale, so perhaps it may be worth trialling a few different kinds with customers? 😋
I visit the Belfast area frequently, so I was pleased to see that China Express had vegan options. With my local Chinese (Tangtastic) having so many vegan offerings, there were big shoes to fill in my eyes. However, I went in to place my order with an open-mind and was overall quite satisfied. China Express is a solid option for my frequent visits to the Belfast area. We will be back again but would love to see more vegan options!

The best vegan Chinese food ever - Edit
We got food from here last night and we were blown away by everything! They have loads of vegan options including 'chicken', 'beef' and 'duck' (I think they're seitan-based) and tons of sauces to go with them. If you don't fancy mock meat you can have tofu, aubergine, courgette, green beans or Chinese cabbage... an amazing amount of choice for a small takeaway!
Read moreWe got the small vegan munch box which was £12.50 and contained the most delicious salt 'n' chili tofu we've ever had, plus yummy salt 'n' chili chips, spring rolls and sweet and sour mock duck (you can choose any 'meat' and sauce to go in the box) The texture of the 'duck' was excellent. Some mock meats make me feel sick if they're too realistic, but this was just perfect. We also got tofu and noodles with satay sauce (nice chunky, squidgy tofu) and 'chicken' curry with rice. It cost £32 for our family of 4 and we had plenty of leftovers for dinner the next day.
Highly recommend this place if you're visiting Belfast! Lovely staff too - very friendly and helpful. Be aware that it's cash only and there are no ATMs nearby, so make sure you stop at one on the way (or you can order on JustEat). Enjoy!
Pros: Huge selection of vegan dishes, Really delicious food in big portions, Friendly, helpful staff
Cons: It would be handy if they took card payments, Wish they used paper bags instead of plastic!

Beast Feast - Edit
Bumping this up to 4 - quality is great!
Read moreHad I have known that the box was for 2 people I wouldn't have ordered 2.
Otherwise a decent sized offering served in a pizza box compromising 2 portions of salt and chilli tofu, salt and chilli chips and vegetable spring rolls and a portion of sauce, which in my case was curry. Also comes with fortune cookies.
Very filling, definitely for sharing and at 12.50 for one is an OK price.
Quick, tasty, decent.

Finally vegan Chinese food! - Edit
I was never the biggest fan of Chinese food and after never seeing any vegan options in Chinese restaurants for years, I got put off. However, when I saw China Express were offering a range of vegan options, my sister and I decided to try it out. We ordered the small vegan box between us which came with spring rolls, salt and chilli chips, curry sauce and soya chicken curry (I think that's everything). Everything we tried was really tasty and it was so nice to try Chinese food again! Also the small box was an amazing price for the amount you got and was more than enough for the both of us. My only comment would be that me and my sister have quite a high tolerance for any spicy food but our mouths were on fire after the salt and chilli chips haha.

Amazing Vegan Options - Edit
This is the best chinese takeaway I’ve probably ever had! I would definitely recommend anyone to try the vegan options here. The fake meats are the perfect texture and flavour. The black bean and honey chilli sauces were great, salted chilli was super spicy but amazing! Plus the portion sizes were very big despite being labelled small! I will definitely try again from here!
