We ordered multiple dishes with tofu noodles and vegetables. Food was outstanding and brimming with flavor. Chef cooks behind a glass door and you can feel part of the cooking experience. Superb flavors.

Fantastic Find - Edit
Excellent food with a Peruvian flair. Needed a break from the Tico typical fare. Our server was very knowledgeable concerning vegan diets. He warned us that the wan ton and noodle dishes contained egg in the pasta. There are clearly labeled vegetarian dishes that can easily be made vegan. We enjoyed the Taco Tacu and Taco Soldano - both contained tofu. We split the cassava appetizer that could have been a meal you itself. We also enjoyed a lovely organic Chardonnay. Highly recommend. Service was very attentive. Bathroom clean.

Good food and friendly service - Edit
We informed the staff that we were vegan upon arrival, and the chef came out and spoke with us about options. We asked for recommendations, and he suggested the yucca with quinoa dish and the tofu dish. Both dishes were delicious on their own and as the chef suggested, they complimented each other well. Price was also reasonable for the quality of food. The two dishes wish bottled water came out to be ~1200 colons.

Amazing! Chef came to say to the table, made one of our Peruvian favorites, that was not on the menu, played around and made a vegan version just for us! Not only that but was incredible.

Delicious and HUGE portions - Edit
This was such a great place to visit! We came on a Thursday at around 2pm and it was very quiet. Our food was cooked to order quickly. We ordered: Tofu Saltado, Kam Lu Wantan Vegetariano and for our daughter a starter (yucca fries). The portions were gigantic! The overall winner for me was the Kam Lu Wantan, which was absolutely delicious, I loved the sweet and sour sauce and pineapple in it. When we visited the lady was really lovely but Spanish was needed (google translate will work fine for getting your needs met if your Spanish is poor like mine!). The menu had lots of information about what was in the foods on it so that will help with some dietary requirements. They were very happy to help modify foods though! Another thing to note is the card reader wasn’t working when we visited... could have been fluke but maybe ensure you have cash just in case. Total cost for our meal was 15,950.00 so I thought that was pretty good considering how full we all were! A previous reviewer said the vegetarian options were all vegan, the menu was certainly very clear about what was in the items, but I had a feeling the vegetable rice that came with the Kam Lu Wantan possibly had egg in it. Might have been paranoia, but just check with the waitress when you order :)

Cons: You need to know some basic Spanish to order , Check your vegetable rice doesn’t have egg in it!

Delicious! - Edit
Vegetarian section is fully vegan. We had the yucca dish for starters but it was huge and could be eaten as a main dish. There were two tofu main dishes that we got and shared. Delicious place that we will be going to again before we leave la Fortuna

Fresh and tasty - Edit
The menu has alot of options and certain ingredients are well indicated (gluten, eggs, etc) so it helps when choosing a meal. We had the veggie fried rice without the egg and the veggie plancha and they were both amazing!! Service was pleasant and surprisingly quick! They offer half and full portions but suggest a half portion for one person.

Great vegan meal for the whole family - Edit
We were getting tired of rice and beans during our trip to Costa Rica so we decided to give Chifa La Familia Feliz a try based on the great reviews. It was fantastic. The chef came out and talked to us and went through the menu to point out vegan options. Really fresh and delicious food and even something for the little ones (yummy stir-fried noodles and tofu). Our only regret is that we wished we had more time to eat here again!

Best food of my Costa Rica trip - Edit
Really nice food and a nice change from the typical Costa Rican rice and beans platter. Plenty of vegetarian options but waiter was a bit confused by the concept of vegan food. After he spoke with the chef, he recommended a dish and it was very nice.

fully satisfied - Edit
Wow so I came with a vegan friend on Sunday around 12:30, and it wasn’t very busy! The wait staff was so nice. I asked for any vegan recommendations, and our waiter got the chef. My friend and I shared the delicious fried yucca, something with curry sauce and wontons, and then the tacu tacu vegetariano. The TT vegetariano was so good! It had tofu that tasted like Chinese sweet and sour chicken😍the other two items were delicious as well. Overall a great dining experience! Would give it 5 stars if happy cow allowed it!

Go here! Seriously. Get the tofu, it’s sooooooo amazing! Owner is great! Make reservations, we got lucky but saw many people turned away because they were super busy! (High season anyway) Worth the wait though I promise, and your omni friends/family will enjoy it as well. We loved it so much we went back a second time on our 3 night stay in La Fortuna:)

excellent vegetarian Chinese Peruvian cuisine - Edit
We were so excited to find a place that really does a lot of vegetarian cuisine that we could adapt to be vegan. Get the vegetarian ceviche and the tofu saltada. Both are excellent. There are many many vegetarian options , easily denoted on the menu by a leaf.

Peruvian veg friendly food - Edit
This is one of the best meals we have had since arriving in Costa Rica. It is located in La Fortuna- google maps has it in the correct location.
Read moreOur favorite dish was the
Tofu Saltudo that included potato wedges tofu and tomatoes with a savory sauce. The tofu was amazing.
We also loved the Kam Lu Wantan for 5000 colones.
It consisted of three huge wontons stuffed with vegetables topped with a sweet and sour sauce. It wasn't vegan though as there were eggs in the dough.
The other dish we tried was the Causa Vegetariano for 3800 colones. It was spicy cold mashed potatoes stuffed with vegetables. It was ok but I prefer my potatoes hot.
Pros: Great service, Veg items marked on menu

Deliciously vegan friendly and just plain friendly - Edit
Everything we ordered was super flavorful and delicious! (first things first) I found this place here on Happycow.com and enjoyed it very much so I figured it was time to join and add my own input. We were parking out front and the owner ran out to make sure we didn't damage our tires-he'd apparently been working on fixing the concrete and had covered it up with something. Mind you there was no way to know we were parking for his restaurant so he was just helping because he's a nice person. This place serves 2 types of traditional Peruvian cuisine, and for all the main dishes there is a vegan option. After these dishes the menu is categorized by type of meat (beef, fowl, fish, etc), with a vegetarian section as well. We were worried about ordering the wantan dish because they were fried, but the owner, also our waiter, who continued to be very polite and attentive, ensured that they have a separate fryer for vegetarian dishes. The kitchen is next to the dining room, and the walls are glass, so you can see the two different fryers and also that they have nothing to hide! Also the food was very reasonable priced. To sum up...super nice owner/chef/waiter, scrumptious food, plenty of veggie options, great price. My boyfriend and I highly recommend this place to any vegetarian or vegan visiting the La Fortuna area.

Notice they have moved!! I don't know if the current address is correct. We found the correct address on trip advisor. At their old address there's now just a simple soda, so make sure you arrive at the right place.
