Dirty plates and terrible service - Edit
I had super high hopes as this place has had great blog reviews but the food was cold, the plates were dirty and the service was rude. I wouldn’t recommend it and I will not go back.

Hummus paradise - Edit
For a chickpea and hummus lover like me, this was paradise! Pretty everything is hummus-based. Their hummus is of course one of the best ones I have ever tried, but so was also their sausages. Highly recommended.

Great Decor, Service and Salads - Edit
They have an interesting take on middle eastern food. While the falafel isn’t a traditional recipe for true falafel or tameya fans one person at the table I was with enjoyed them and was served a large portion.

Hit and miss - Edit
Repeat visits have been less satisfying than first experiences. Some excellent brunch options (Malawach! Shaksuka!) .... But a place named Chickpea needs to come up with falafels that aren't so dry and forgettable.

Some of the best vegan food in the city - Edit
Chickpea is awesome, you should go. Fresh and tasty Mediterranean food with great options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had the food when it first opened and wasn't blown away with the service or the food itself but things have really improved and now it's one of my favourite spots in the city. The chickpea fries are delicious. My favourite is typically the chickcheese sandwich for breakfast and the tempeh shawarma for dinner.

Just okay - Edit
Took my non-vegan family here because the food looked amazing in photographs and I have heard great reviews from friends.
Read moreWas so stoked to come to Chickpea but unfortunately the food was disappointing. The hummus was bland and covered in oil, the Cauliflower of Life was barely roasted (tasted like it was just boiled), and the eggplant dish and the battered tofu were both lacking seasoning and were underwhelming.
The only good part was the chickpea fries, specifically with the shawarma and kasum toppings. Wouldn’t recommend coming here except to get those fries or to try their all-day breakfast menu (which maybe I’ll come back for one day)
Pros: Fully vegan, Good location (right next to Meet on Main)
Cons: Bland food (especially the hummus), Overpriced

Pretty good - Edit
If you love hummus this might be the place for you. I enjoyed it but I’ve definitely had better. Heard a lot about this place before but to be honest I was kind of disappointed because I didn’t think it was as good as everyone’s been telling me.

Bomb Food - Edit
Went here the first time for my 26th birthday, portion sizes are great, and I love that they give you the option to get things as a salad, wrap, or a big plate with a mix of things. And they have their own house cocktails which is delicious - this place is awesome for a dinner party or for a romantic vegan dinner.

Yes to Chickpea - Edit
I got to go to Chickpea a few times on a trip to Vancouver. It's a very informal, cafe-style restaurant with lots of throw pillows and a giant artificial tree inside. The food is tasty and unpretentious, and the portions are huge.
Read moreIf youre there for dinner, I recommend the shawarma platter, their salatim spread, and the blueberry lemon chicken pie. They also have vegan baklava and it is very good. If you're there for brunch, they have a puff pastry pancake filled with a bunch of different veggies that I would definitely recommend.

Everything is divine. They even make their own “chickpea fries” so you can have a meal that is virtually all chickpeas. It can be quite heavy though so come hungry!

Not too bad!! - Edit
My husband and I went for dinner. He ordered the falaffal plate and he enjoyed it. He was not a fan of their mint vinegarette (but he does not like mint). The falafel was crunchy on the outside and nice and moist inside with good flavour. The chickpea fries were good with a spicy sauce drizzled on top. His platter didn’t have the pickle on it which was on the menu (he realized after though) I ordered the Kasum (fried cauliflower with a mushroom/onion/turmeric slop) on top salad. It was cold and I wasn’t sure it was supposed to be. Asked the server and they said no it was supposed to be hot. They apologize and took it back. It came back out piping hot and tasted much better. It was good.

Soggy Cauliflower! But delicious & large portion sizes - Edit
I went for lunch on a rainy afternoon with some friends, and we all ordered platters. I had the Cauliflower of Life platter, which was pretty tasty. I loved the Chickpea fries, and the hummus was very good. They also have self-serve tahini sauces which were really interesting and fun to try. I had the Rose tahini and the Basil tahini. Both were excellent. Service was good, and food prices were good.
Read moreThe one thing that I will say that I was not a huge fan of was how watery the dish got from the cauliflower. The whole plate was very soggy, so everything on top was delicious, and the textures were great. It got to a point where I didn't necessarily want to eat any more because the fries, salad, and cauliflower were all so soggy.
If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. I would definitely go back, but I would not get the Cauliflower of Life again.
Pros: Delicious, All vegan menu, Nice staff and cute decor
Cons: Soggy cauliflower platter

be careful if you have allergies! - Edit
I went to the food truck with some friends and my friend specifically asked for no tahini or hummus because he's allergic to sesame. They messed up his order and he knew it after one bite. He told the. And they didn't care, didn't offer to fix it or refund his money. Not cool!

Come Hungry! - Edit
This 100% vegan restaurant is known for their huge portions and tasty Mediterranian dishes. My favourite is their shawarma which is made out of stewed tempeh. I always get the platter, which comes with a pita, hummus, salad, and their chickpea fries. Make sure to get some sweet chilli dipping sauce and tahini sauce for your meal, which is self-serve. The alcoholic drinks here are overpriced and not very good (the vodka tastes off), and the service is a hit or miss. Regardless, the food keeps me coming back!
