Non-veg

Serves meat, vegan options available. Authentic Thai food restaurant with a "vegetable and tofu" section on the otherwise typical non-veg Thai menu. The servers will give you detailed information about what is vegan/vegetarian and what is not. Often has vegetarian specials-of-the-day. Previously named Moo Pa Thai. Open Mon-Thu 11:30am-9:30pm, Fri-Sat 11:30am-10:00pm, Sun 12:00pm-9:00pm.

Fab find

This is a busy neighbourhood restaurant! In the hour we were there (Sunday 5.30pm) they never had more than 6 seats open at one time! Food is super authentic Thai. Fresh, spicy and tasty. Plastic table cloths and enamel plates - all spotlessly clean. I’d give it 5* but can’t cos it’s not fully vegan. (But that works well if your group is not all vegan!) Good value for money.

Pros: Authentic Thai food, Cheery staff , Wine and beer available

Best Thai Food in Long Beach

I wanted to update my review to note that the last time I was in, May told me that at the request of some of her other vegan customers, she's putting together an entirely separate vegan menu to make the restaurant even more veggie friendly! Very cool, although as far as I'm concerned, they're already doing a great job making vegans feel welcome and attended to :)

***
I am obsessed with May's - they don't have the most fun location, in the sense that they're not in the heart of downtown or near "cool" Retro Row, but the restaurant itself is adorable, and their food is hardcore authentic Thai and so so SO tasty, so the location doesn't matter!

May's is a lovely, family-owned and run restaurant. May herself will often come out into the dining room to check on everything, and because she gets to know her customers so well, she's really responsive to their needs. The servers are also always lovely and full of knowledge about what is veg and what isn't, so if you're unsure, just ask.

There are other Thai restaurants in Long Beach with better locations, but none with better food. Their special of the day is often vegetarian, and they offer both white and brown rice, which I appreciate.

Our favorite dishes currently are the pineapple fried rice, the tofu with young ginger, and the red veggie curry! Amazing food, great ambience - come to May's!
