A lot of sites are reporting that Chevy's Fresh Mex® serves some vegan options that include their rice; however, let me tell you how that rice is made:

First, the uncooked rice is placed into a large mesh basket and lowered into hot oil - the same oil that is used to fry their chicken wings.

Next, prior to serving, it is doused in melted butter. Not margarine, BUTTER.

I know this, because I work there, and I'm the person whose job it is to make the rice (and other things). Not at this particular location, but at another one in California, but the recipes and procedures are identical.
