Best Vegan Chinese Food - Edit
I've had quite a bit of vegan chinese food, but this is my favorite so far. The vegetables taste so fresh. they make their own "meat" and it tastes great. So many options on the menu!

So Happy To See!!! - Edit
Vegan Chinese food & fresh juices!! 🤯 The textures were a bit strange (that’s the mock meat though)… but the flavors were really good - it was definitely a healthier and much less greasy take on this cuisine!

Really yummy! - Edit
I really enjoyed my quick visit to this vegan restaurant. I went right as they opened, so it was not busy. The restaurant was cute and the menu is large! I had the lunch special which came with a spring roll and I had the mango chicken with rice. It was really yummy!

Vegetarian - Edit
The waitress was exceptionally attentive and personable, taking the time to thoroughly explain the menu options. The cuisine exceeded my expectations, proving to be utterly scrumptious. Enjoy everything I order. Don’t be deceived by the looks of the restaurant, but you will be surprised by the meal all vegan dishes.

Seemingly ordinary little Chinese bodega, only 100% vegan - Edit
THIS is what every little restaurant should be instead of animal-based. No fancy spellings of chicken, fish, etc. on this menu. They assure/inform everyone on arrival that they are 100% vegan. Appears to be entirely run by one couple.
Read moreI finished half of one meal and thought I could also take another meal home. The portions are so large that I actually took home 5 meals.
Both entrees came out so fast that I would barely have time to go to the restroom to wash my hands. Seriously, not 5 minutes passed from ordering to receiving, both times.
Open-air kitchen is more noisy than usual.
In the heart of West Reading, a bustling burb on a Friday evening, with limited parking but well-worth the walk.
Pros: Variety of flavor/menu items, Portion size proportional to price, if not better, Extremely fast turnaround from ordering to served
Cons: Kitchen machinery noise

The gem of West Reading - Edit
We've been here four times now, and every time it's outstanding. It's really one of a kind, a completely vegan take on Chinese food. They have an extremely large menu, with something for everyone

Love the lomein - Edit
I came for takeout on a busy day with a street festival going on. The owner let me know when I called in my order which was helpful and thoughtful of her to do. I wasn’t able to order a lunch special and was told it was because of the festival taking place, which was a bummer.
Read moreI had the pork lomein, orange chkn, and pan fried wantons. The lomein was super good although the pork was a little less crispy than I was expecting. The wantons were a big portion and loved the garlic sauce.
I didn’t love the orange chkn. The texture was tough and hard to chew like jerky. Wasn’t appropriate for this dish. The sauce was more like orange zest than a traditional orange sauce. (I was expecting something like panda’s). I’d consider trying other menu items in the future. This business is celebrating their 10 year anniversary in October 2023.
Pros: Super friendly staff , Clean resturant

Best food in the area! - Edit
Chen is my favorite restaurant in the Reading area! It's the only all-vegan option in West Reading, and everything is delicious-- the eggplant chicken and bean curd with mixed vegetables are two of my favorites. The owners are really kind, too, and make an effort to get to know all of their regular customers. I grew up in the area, and remember a time when Chen was pretty much the only place I could get good vegan food and have more than one option-- we're lucky to have them in WR!
Read moreAlso, Chen is having a deal on their lunch specials each week until September 21st. I've put a photo of a flyer for it on my review!

The happiest place on earth - Edit
I love this place more than words can describe. 2nd time I've been here and everything is phenomenal.
Read moreI got the hot and sour soup again cuz it's always been a favorite of mine. This one is no exception, it's so satisfying.
I've never had 'real' wontons before so I don't have much to compare to. But these were crunchy and satisfying. The filling was a bit overshadowed by the wrap but the garlic sauce amped it right back up. So good!
Next we have the Shanghai spicy noodles in medium. I definitely could have gone for hot instead. Pretty much lo mein noodles in a sauce. I'm not sure what the meat on top is but it was on the softer side with a nice smoky flavor.
The sesame chicken had a nice crunch to it that sunk into a satisfying chewy texture. The sauce was pretty good. I could snack on these all day.
And finally, the black pepper seitan. Slightly sweet with a perfect texture.
I'm still obsessed with the tenderloin from the 1st trip but everything about this order was perfect.
Oh, almost forgot to mention the cheesecake. This is the best darn cheesecake, vegan or not, that I can recall having since childhood. The texture is perfect and it's sweet but with enough of that tang to make it stand out. Divine.
Pros: All vegan, including the cheesecake
Cons: Only con is that it costs real-life money, Otherwise I would eat here every day

Asian Vegan Style - Edit
For some time I’ve had an urge for Asian food in a truly vegan setting and this little restaurant did not disappoint. Had the eggplant chicken and pad Thai , starting with the dumplings. All very good. It’s a tiny place but it also has a nice sitting area outside which would be nice in warmer seasons. The menu is vast and I dream of working my way through it.

Really tasty Chinese food that’s not greasy - Edit
So great! ordered the mango chicken after reading reviews and was kind of apprehensive about what to expect but it was delicious! Most mock meat dishes I’ve had from other vegetarian places have been greasy and leave me feeling a little “bleh” after eating but Chen’s was totally different - it felt fresh and healthy and I wish we were in town longer so we could order again!

Fresh, feel good, vegan chinese food - Edit
Can’t complain honestly, sweetest staff ever, which just makes you want to support them even more. First time and we got a lot of food - beef and mixed veg, chicken fried rice, chicken lo mein, wonton soup, seafood delight, seaweed salad, steamed dumplings, and cheesecake. Top picks were the cheesecake, seaweed salad, and chicken lo mein. Bottom pics were the seafood delight. Everything else was solidly good. No grease, no MSGs, so everything feels good to eat. It’s funny, you actually notice how much salt and MSG is in your normal vegan chinese food once you have this and it kinda makes you feel a little guilty.
Read moreBiggest note: this is a small operation. Super limited indoor seating, and sometimes long wait times for to-go orders. Be nice, and they’ll be nice back. This is such a blessing to have in Berks County.
