Quick, healthy and delicious meal

Chaya is our go to in Tokyo for a quick dinner and some shopping for home curry.
The vegan plate is always delicious, and features brown rice.
The desserts are a must, and we often do takeaways for them!
Chaya makes pouches of vegan curries and dishes that you can make at home. They're sold in some supermarkets but buying it at the restaurant allows you to see the full range. The vegan mayo is also a must buy for us, as it's hard to find anywhere else in Japan

Nice place for breakfast

Wanted breakfast at an odd time and this was one of the few places open.
Lots of vegan options. I got the pancake set. They also have a small shop where you can buy some pastries and packaged goods.

Very tasty and not that expensive

We ordered two vegan dishes. One was about 1500 and the other about 1600 yen. Super tasty.

Hawaii in Japan(?)

口中では、真珠湾攻撃の再現が起こった。舌はすべての味に対して準備できていなかったから、敵軍の奇襲作戦が成功してしまった、、、まあ、簡単にいうとめっちゃ美味しかったよ😅

A blast of tropical flavours and too many options to choose from....

Pros: Lots of options, Tasty drinks

Great healthy meal

Food is delicious and healthy. The mock meat was good and I wish they had it to go too. Was very pleased with my plate. This is not a vegan cafe, but most of the menu is vegan.

One of the best vegan meals I've had in Tokyo

So fresh and delicious! I found this place on my last day in Tokyo and wish I had known about it sooner because it had so many vegan and gluten free options.

I got the butter chicken curry (one of the best curries I've ever eaten) and the deep fried soy meat with tartare sauce was so good!

They have so many desserts as well with gluten free options.

I didn’t wait long to get a seat on a busy Saturday. The food was really delicious and the staff was super friendly. A lot of good options for vegetarians. Don’t miss this when you are here!

Pros: Delicious!, Nice atmosphere!

Lovely healthy food

Mainly vegan, everything is clearly labelled.
Lots of yummy veggies and nice desserts.
It’s a nice place for a slightly fancy but casual lunch or dinner before/ after going to the one of the fabulous movie theatres in Hibiya or Ginza. ( But also a comfortable place for solo diners). On B. 2 floor, easy to find. Reliable opening hours. They also have lunch/dinner boxes/ cakes and some packaged items available for takeout.

Tasty cakes

The cakes were relatively small for the price, but it was great to enjoy our desserts after dinner. Lemon soy cheese cake was so good.

Meh, but bonus points for the little store

A bit hard to find as it’s in a hotel(?), not the coziest vibe and the service was brusque. The food tasted like it had been sitting around all day (probably was). Also not as many vegan options/not as clear as you might expect. They had a small store with vegan/macrobiotic Chaya packaged products though, like curries and a bunch of flavors of butter cookies.

Chaya natural and wild

Would get 5 stars If I could.absolutly delicious. The amount of getables on my plate was amazing. Japan seems to use fresh vegetables quite sparingly so it was a great fulling meal I recieved.

Pros: Good service, Value for money, Fresh

Cons: Has some fish meals on the menu

I had dinner with dessert and it was delicious. Just be careful because the address is kinda confusing. It's on B2F.

Great place to go with non-vegans

The restaurant was in the basement of a building, relatively easy to find. The staff and service were all nice and I was able to order even without speaking Japanese.

They offer sets were you have the choice of deli options, both warm and cold options. I went with non-vegans and they even enjoyed the food. We also ordered the parfait and cheesecake which were vegan and really good.

Pros: vegan options

Cons: expensive

Pleasant surprise!

You can definitely tell you’re in one of the ‘nice’ areas of Tokyo here. Although in a department store basement level, chaya is a lovely little restaurant. I think the menu must change seasonally as I wasn’t able to find on the menu a tempeh burger that I’d read about in another review.
Nonetheless, I had mix plate where you choose three ‘deli items’ (hot or cold), and it’s served with a small soup, brown rice, and a vegetable/fruit juice shot.
All in all this was really tasty! I wasn’t expecting too much (I don’t think the menu really ‘sells’ the meals), but I enjoyed everything.
You can also buy cakes and other items to take away. A great find.

Lovely!

Went for lunch here today. Lovely staff but not much English spoken, which is fine of course but just be prepared if you don’t speak much Japanese! They also kind of insist you have a set menu for lunch here which is a little annoying but I chose the vegan avocado and kale taco bowl with a side of deep fried soy cutlet (tasted like fish!) and a delightful little strawberry shortcake for desert which was divine. Really enjoyable and would definitely come back. The menu is mostly vegan as others say, I also visited the FAQs on their website and they make it clear that the only thing they use is fish in some dishes, I.e no other meat, dairy, egg, etc.

Quality classic vegan choices

I tried the tempeh burger, not expecting much, and was positively suprised: very well balanced taste, just about right.

Then I had two desserts, the scone and the carrot cake, both good.

Overall, a very nice experience, I will be back!

Pros: Spacious, Quite a few vegan options, Quality food

Cons: A bit expensive

5 stars

Would give 5 stars if possible! The breakfast is really delicious! Only a few food items contain fish, it’s clearly labeled. A lot of stuff is gluten-free, that’s pretty hard to find in Tokyo

Pros: Lot of vegan food, Lot of gluten-free food

Love it!

I frequent the theaters in this area and love having this restaurant just a short walk away. It is located in the basement of Chanter, and recently underwent renewal. Very healthy and yummy. Desserts are good too. A bit expensive but worth it for the convenience.
