Great Indian food

We go to Chaula’s often, it has a great choice for vegans. Tarka dhal, stuffed baby aubergines, sag aloo and bindi bhaji are all favourites, lots of other great dishes too.

Would give 5 stars, but can’t as app does not allow for not purely vegetarian.

Would give 5* if I could

Chaula's is incredible.

Staff very knowledgeable on what is vegan and what isn't. All the food is cooked in sunflower oil, not ghee so the choice is very good. Completely separate vegetarian sections on the menu, and not just the usual 5-8 curries you get, some very interesting options.

The curries all tasted fresh and left us full but not over-full. The roti and paratha were also excellent.

Overall, this is probably the best Indian I've visited in years.

Delicious

We love going to Chaula's with its genuine commitment to south Indian food, absence of generic "Indian" dishes and reassuringly limited menu, meaning that everything we have ever eaten here has felt authentic and carefully prepared. We also love the fact that they list veggie and vegan options first - we've not seen that in any other Indian restaurant despite most genuine Indian feed being vegetarian by tradition.
