Needs Improvement

My daughter and I went today. We had very high hopes upon entering. The decor is stunning and the service is excellent. We were given vegan menus, which include a tea selection. I wanted to order the Caramel Noir tea. I asked the waitress how the caramel flavor was added to the tea and whether the caramel was vegan. She said the caramel was not vegan, but it was just stepped in the tea, there were no actual pieces of it in the tea, so she figured I wouldn’t mind. Personally, I do mind and I’m not very happy that it’s included on the vegan menu as an option. The restaurant has vegan caramel so I don’t understand why they couldn’t just make a vegan version of the tea or just exclude it from the vegan menu. I ordered the lemon verbena tea instead, and it was excellent. Our savories arrived, and they were all very good. Unfortunately, it went downhill from here. The next course was scones, and they had a very strong baking soda flavor to them. They came with a chocolate spread, a pineapple coconut butter, and strawberry jam. My daughter thought all three were pretty good. I only liked the strawberry jam, and found the other two spreads to be quite bad. The worst course was the desserts. There was not a good one among the bunch. There is a mini chocolate milk drink that was served luke warm. It was bitter and disgusting. The flavors on all of the desserts were simply off. Neither my daughter or I enjoyed a single one.

Fun Wonka-themed afternoon tea in London

Outstanding service and a full vegan menu with plenty of teas, cocktails, sandwiches, scones and desserts. Expensive but a whole lot of fun.

Pros: Full vegan afternoon tea service, Wonka-inspired drinks and food, Very attentive service

Cons: Expensive
