A restaurant with a separate vegan menu. I had the tagliatelle with roast vegetables that comes with bread and side salad. An insane portion so be very hungry. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good prices.

Amazing vegan menu with (what I assume) classic English pub food. Extremely nice and friendly staff. Highly recommend eating here, and come with an empty stomach!

Retro Diner with Proper Vegan Menu - Edit
We instantly felt part of the family as soon as we entered. The food was reassuringly old-skool and the portions generous in a way that you'd expect an aunty would serve if you'd been away too long and they'd said that you were wasting away! They seem to love what they do, and it really shows in the food and feeling of the place. Such a lovely night out.

Absolutely loved this place , while we waited for our food to come I said to my wife " If the food matches the friendliness we are in for a treat " and good news it did . Really good choice of vegan dishes , I had a pulled nopork burger with all the trimmings and a biscoffi pie . Dog friendly and licensed to boot . Highly recommend 💚

Had a lovely night here really and enjoyed my food, and the service was friendly and attentive really top class. The portions are massive ! 😊 A lovely intimate family restaurant we had a great time.

Our cheese and pineapple burgers were massive and delicious 😋
And I even managed to squeeze in a knickerbocker glory though I had to take a tactical decision to abandon half my cheesey chips in order to save room to do so 😆
The Mrs had her pudding in the form of a pina colada which had enough vegan ice cream in it to make her unable to take on a pud which is very rare indeed ! Though she did have a little bit of mine just to test it out of course 😆
They didn’t have cherry coke so plied me with coke and cherry brandy delicious genius.
We both left feeling very stuffed and happy !
I just wish was closer to home.

Great burgers and attention to detail - Edit
When we visited we enjoyed a chicken style and beef style burger. The vegan coleslaw was also very nice. We were with a group of non-vegans. The knowledgeable staff confirmed all the dips that were vegan and supplied vegan mayo in addition to the non-vegan mayo. Their attention to detail was really reassuring. The burgers were lovely, and quite convincing as meat-alikes. Good value for money. A nice quirky place for comfort food.

Huge tasty portions! - Edit
A surprising and amazing place. We both had the pulled non-pork (jackfruit) which came in a burger bun with salad, and included sides of coleslaw, chips and onion rings. Everything was really well cooked and very tasty, especially the jackfruit. Not greasy or too sweet or anything (as some junk food can be). We were also brought five different vegan condiments including vegan mayonnaise! The portions were ridiculously large and even though we'd just walked twenty miles we couldn't finish everything and sadly had no room for pudding - we'll have to go back and just have starters and puddings or something! Really nice characterful and friendly down-to-earth place.

So the first thing to say is that those of you who know the site will know that you can't give 5 starts to a restaurant that isn't solely Vegan. It's a fair rule but honestly Charlie Brown's despite this is exceptional!
Read moreI was in Eastbourne last night for a few hours with my boyfriend and looked on Happy Cow for a vegan restaurant. We were unsure about Charlie Brown's as it's not fully vegan but it seemed a more favourable option to the chain restaurants. We phoned to book at table - and the banter and the warm reception meant that we were sold straight away.
The biggest compliment I can give the food is that we didn't have a desert. I can normally eat the house down but the portions were so filling, we just couldn't take any more!
I had a beautiful double burger with 'cheese', cheesy chips and 2 vegan chocolate shakes. I eat at vegan diners a fair bit and the quality of this food was extraordinary.
Carina - if I've spelt it correctly - is doing brilliantly. The business was non vegan. She became vegan a few years ago and has added vegan dishes to the menu ever since and now it's pretty extensive.
All round - brilliant place and very reasonably priced too!

Down in Eastbourne for a weekend and wondering around looking for dinner. What a surprise to see a full vegan menu in this 40 year old Eastbourne institution. The owner's daughter went vegan 4 years ago and introduced this surprising and delicious vegan diner menu. Started with garlic bread with cheese, which was massive and tasty. Main was a cheese and pineapple burger which to my surprise came with a double patty, onion rings and chunky chips. Made the optimistic mistake of ordering cheese chips too. Had to take away a doggie bag.

I want to give 5 stars! Though I can't as it is not a fully vegan/veggie restaurant... But honestly, I couldn't tell that it wasn't. Just ask for the vegan menu and order from that, it is all delicious fresh food. The lasanga is out of this world it is so cheesy and yummy!! I was so full as I had cheesy garlic bread aswell and some chips and salad! Next time will get starters to share and just have lasanga as that was so filling! Maybe would've had room for desert! Book in advance as can get busy and full. Worth the trip from anywhere it is simply amazing delicious food.

Nice place, huge huge portions, friendly staff, but wasn't quite the nicest pasta I had. Decent meal, but I usually prefer quality over quantity. Would be tempted to come again to check other dishes though.

Vegan Chef - Great Vegan Menu - Edit
This place is great the food is always so good and freshly cooked - the chef is Vegan and goes out of her way to encourage Vegans and welcome them. She knows what drinks are Vegan on the menu and you even get Veganaise brought to the table with the other bits when food arrives. Love this place so much if your in Eastbourne its a must visit.
