I’ve never been here one time or taken one person here who didn’t LOVE it. The pancakes are to DIE for and the milkshakes are so good. The cheese sticks are sooool good too. Such a cute feel, I LIVE for champs

There isn’t really anything else to say that other reviewers have said before. Love the location, love the staff, love being able to feel hesitant browsing such a variety of choices !!!! There are also a lot of anti fur anti meat stickers and posters upon entering which must scare the [censored] out of omnis (awesome!)

Typical Americal diner, made vegan. Expensive. - Edit
So. I was following Champs Diner on Facebook looong before I visited North America for the first time. This year, my time has finally come and I was so excited!
Read moreI love going out for breakfast. So I had pancakes and a milkshake the first time I visited. Unfortunately, I did not like the pancakes much. The portion was huge (I could not even finish it) but the taste weird and I honestly expected more topping. The milkshake was ok but not exceptional, I am sure I could make a similar one at home very easily.
My second time I ordered Benedict. I loved their hollandaise, it was one of the best I've ever tried, but the rest was pretty average.
I will still come back next time to try other dishes, but I am not so excited anymore. They are probably really well known and always crowded now, but that does not mean they should stop paying attention to their actual food! Specially when the prices are so high.
Staff were really nice though.
Pros: Typical American, Long opening hours, Friendly staff
Cons: Food not as exceptional as expected, Pricey

Best pancakes ever - Edit
Best pancakes I have ever had, vegan or not! I had the cinnamon roll pancakes (without pecans) and they were INCREDIBLE. SERIOUSLY. A bit more expensive than other vegan diner pancakes, but worth it. Finished most of the pancakes with bottomless coffee (pretty good too). Definitely get their specialty pancakes, because my friend had the bananarama cakes and they were average.

Mind-bending Chicken & Waffles - Edit
This spot is worth a trip to Brooklyn no matter where the j the area you’re coming from. Even before I was a vegan the idea of chicken and waffles didn’t sound appetizing, but let me tell you: the mix of textures and flavors is pure perfection, and Champs has made a HUGE fan out of me!

Doesn’t live up to the Hype - Edit
Sadly, I was kinda disappointed. The staff wasn’t the kindest, my pancakes tasted microwaved, and the milkshakes were really, really, really not good. That being said, the seitan was incredible, as was the fake cheese! Overall though, this restaurant doesn’t live up to the insane amount of hype it gets.

Must visit vegan diner - Edit
Champ's might have the best vegan comfort food in the country. I've been to multiple vegan friendly cities and this is one of my all time favorite spots to go. The Reuben, Cubano, and Cheesesteak are all really freakin good. Also try a pancake for dessert (cinnamon swirl and cookie dough are both awesome).

My sister and I come here from Harlem on special occasions and it’s always worth the trip and small wait. The Artichoke burger 🍔 with the onion ring and knife through it is a masterpiece and makes my top five. Their milkshake selection is off the hook too!

Good but not amazing - Edit
We tried a variety of things: tater tot nachos, Reuben sandwich, po' boy, strawberry and rhubarb shake and a s'mores sundae. The Reuben was on point. The po' boy was pretty disappointing. Mostly bread roll and not enough filling. I didn't think the palm heart 'meat' worked well. It was $15 which is pretty expensive for what you get (fries were an extra cost). The shake was pretty small for a diner shake but was $11 which is the most I've ever paid for a shake in my life. The tater tot nachos were mostly just cheese sauce. Would have loved more cilantro, black beans etc on top. We had fun there but I've tasted better and cheaper diner food elsewhere.

solid food but lots of flaws - Edit
I used to live in Brooklyn and was regularly frequenting champs - they have some of the best vegan French toast I’ve ever had and their seitan asada fries are in a league of their own. The food is definitely solid but they have some other issues that need to be resolved. First of all, their pricing is ridiculous and WAY too expensive. Not diner prices at all, and given that they have 100% contributed to the gentrification of this area, I’m deeply troubled by the fact that ppl who used to live around here (and still do) could not afford to eat here. On a less profound level their wait times are also ridiculous. They’ve changed their system lately so you can add yourself to the wait list when you’re within a mile of the restaurant, but more could be done.

What a fun, cherry spot. It’s a hike for us so we don’t visit as much as I’d like. We did not love the eggs benny, but everything else was vegan diner bliss.

The place is small and has really good food, but it’s so expensive. 13$ for a mac and cheese appetizer, 16$ for a sandwich, and 11$ for a shake. The portion sizes are huge but we didn’t even eat our leftovers.

Wow, it feels so great to walk into the diner and have the option to order anything on the menu! We had mozzarella sticks, loaded tots, burgers, french toast and shakes...literally every craving I've had the last few months after being vegan. This is a must visit for Vegans in NYC.

YES PLEASE - Edit
My first trip to the big city of Brooklyn, did my research and found this adorable diner. It was my first stop. The atmosphere was fiesty, and had a diner feel. The Service was great, everyone is friendly, the food was over the top delicious. We had the spinach artichoke dip, and chili cheese tator tots, followed by the Reuben which they were happy to make for me with the seitain flavored pastrami, we did a second visit for breakfast and had the cinnamon pancakes, which are to die for. We also had the tofu scramble, hashbrowns, and a biscuit. I'm kind of over tofu scramble since being introduced to just egg, but it was good.
