Serves meat, vegan options available. Indian restaurant with a separate vegan menu of starters, mains, and desserts. Can provide vegan tandoor roti. Open Mon-Sat 11:30-23:00, Sun 12:00-23:00.
This place has decent vegan options - including Indochinese and chaat starters. The mains are limited and basic but good enough for a one time visit.
The ambience and location of this restaurant is great. It is expensive but it's the only decent Indian restaurant in Kingston.
Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu. We ordered poppadoms which were chewy and not crisp. We sent them back twice then gave up on them
Other food was quite tasty but have had better elsewhere. My husband was given his dessert free(vegetarian kulfì - apparently very nice but not vegan) due to the issue with the poppadoms
Lots of dishes were marked as vegan option and the waitress made sure to ask me every time if I wanted the dishes to be vegan (which I thought was great because it means they really care!) Had the aubergine curry, naan and onion bahjis. Absolutely delicious!
Went to Chakra last night for a meal with my partner.
Between us we had 2 dishes from their Street Food selection, 2 sides, 1 rice and 2 Rotis.
Plenty of food for the two of us, we left feeling very full and satisfied!
Cost was £40 including soft drinks and coffees. Pretty reasonable really.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating and the location comfortable and stylish.
All in all a great experience!
We had:
Bombay ki Bhel Puri - Puffed rice tossed with onions, tomatoes, pomegranate, topped with tamarind, & nylon sev
Lucknowi Samosa Chaat - Samosa and spiced chick peas, topped with mint, tamarind and topped with tamarind, & nylon sev
Makai Palak - Creamed spinach and baby corn tempered with burnt garlic, chilli, dill
Lahsooni Tadka Dal - Tempered yellow lentils, with cumin, garlic and chilli
All dishes were lovely, a great mix of flavours and textures.
Tons of vegan dishes on the menu, lots of other dishes labelled up as being made vegan too! Very authentic, quality Indian food! Lovely setting by the river.
Between two of us we shared:
- truffle kulcha (naan stuffed with wild mushrooms and black truffle)
- yam chaat (cubed purple sweet potato drizzled with sweet and tangy tamarind chutney)
Both were really tasty and an excellent start to the meal!
Then we had all three of the mains on offer (in the side dish size):
- chakra channa (chickpeas infused in assam tea and cooked with channa masala and tomatoes)
- baingan ka bharta (slow-cooked aubergine with tomato - smokey and rich)
- crispy okra (battered and fried - very moreish!)
We also shared a side of basmati rice and a tandoori roti. This was a perfect-sized meal, satisfying and interesting, for £20 a head which is very reasonable. Lovely setting right by the river, and friendly staff!

Try the vegan Peshwari naan - Edit
Some really good vegan options clearly marked. Worth it for the vegan peshwari naan alone!
