Worth it! So good! - Edit
Full vegan thai restaurant.
Read moreExperienced the 3 course meal for the MTLàTable festival on my birthday evening. Every dish was full of flavours, well presented, and nice portions.
I chose the carrot & lemongrass soup, turnip cakes, and tamarind sauce sautéed tofu.
Their everyday menu has great options! A definite must try. I’m looking forward to trying more things on their menu.
Oh, and the restaurant itself is cute, cozy, and welcoming! A big plus for me!

Such a nice spot! - Edit
They have lunch deals and delicious vegan Thai food. Their dumplings were fire and the 93 sandwich was good. Bonus points for the beautiful square opposite the restaurant so you can take your food to go if the weather is nice.

Intimate Dinner Spot - Edit
Chai-Yo offered as a great intimate dinner spot for my partner and I! We loved the innovative and creative menu which made it hard to pick just a few dishes to share. We had to start with the Cha Yen (Thai iced tea) because it's been such a long time since I've been able to have a vegan Thai iced tea! For starters we had the dumplings and crispy rice dish. Both were so flavorful! Then we had the duck and curry dish and the tvp stir fry. To finish we had the apple cake! Wish the apple cake was served with some vegan ice cream and whipped cream, but it was delicious nonetheless. Highly recommend checking out Chai-Yo if you're in the area as the food is divine and the staff are so friendly!

Great Lunch - Edit
A colorful and welcoming restaurant right by the Sherbrooke metro station. I shared the Sandwich 93 vegan "duck" seitan sandwich with my partner and had the caramel apple cake for dessert. The sandwich was excellent, fresh bread, well seasoned peppery seitan, and plenty of rich vegan mayo to balance the crisp vegetables. The cake was also very good, moist and not too sweet. We ate our sandwich in the nearby park, which was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon in fall. I will definitely be back to enjoy a dinner time meal!

Quand ça dis "épicé" sur le menu, c'est parce que c'est vraiment épicé 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ j'avais la bouche en feu, pas été capable de finir mon assiette tellement c'était trop spicy

Much better vegan Thai than ChuChai! - Edit
Excellent vegan Thai food, the dumplings (Kiao Satay) are amazing, also tried Pad Thai Tao-Hu, Kao Man Gai, both delicious. The owner is the daughter of the original ChuChai restaurant owners and she has her mom's talents and cooking skills. Highly recommended.

Not memorable - Edit
Friendly service, prices in line with the area, but the food was just not memorable. I got the Pad See Ew, which is one of my favorite dishes, and it just did not have a lot of flavor. We also got the papaya salad, which had some flavor from the dressing. My companion got the banh mi and said it was pretty good.

Cons: Just not enough flavor in the food

A nice fully vegan Thai restaurant - Edit
The fried mushrooms were really tasty, very well presented, and at a perfect spice level.
Read moreThe tofu salad was unfortunately a tiny bit too spicy for me, and although the cucumbers were a perfect combination for the spice I found it a bit underwhelming in both taste and presentation.
The menu could also greatly benefit from a separation between starters and main dishes, as well as pictures for dishes.
I found it to be more on the expensive side, which was more justified for the fried mushrooms than for the tofu salad.
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Expensive , Too spicy

Excellent Banh Mi - Edit
Had one of the lunch specials! The portion of dumplings was small but delicious, and the hibiscus water was too sweet for my liking, but the banh mi 93 was the star of the show! They use a delicious seitan “duck” meat and a nice fresh baguette.
Read moreI left feeling very full! Next time I’d come back for just the banh mi and to try some of the other mains.

Mini Chuchai! - Edit

It has a smaller menu but everything is unique and different from its big sister restaurant.

Fully Vegan Thai Restaurant - Edit
Love a fully vegan restaurant! I’m also gluten free (gluten sensitivity, so slight possibility of cross contamination not an issue for me), so I asked and was told the Nom Jeen Khiao Wan Tao-Hu was gluten free. I ordered that and was served in just a few minutes. It was piping hot and delicious! Afterwards, I asked if the larb or green papaya salad could be made gluten free and she said they could, so I might have to go back.

A great add in the chu chai family! - Edit
Cute place serving thai and chinese vegan comfort food. I had the dumplings and the GUAY-TEOW PED which is a noodle soup with crispy duck in it. Both were really good. I was amazed by the taste of the duck and it was just perfectly crispy. The staff was super nice. I like that is also opened for lunch.

Fantastic and authentic! - Edit
Amazing Thai food cooked by an authentic Thai chef in the kitchen. It feels like a cute little cafe in Bangkok, and the food tastes as good as in Bangkok (or rather, better than in Bangkok because it's adapted to our level of spice acceptance). "Kopkhun Krup" ("thank you") as they say in Thai. Great at every level, I highly recommend you to go and try!

Exceptional in every way! - Edit
We’re from Florida, USA and appreciated Chai-Yo’s unique menu. The service was friendly and quick and everything was cooked to perfection. I usually don’t like seitan but the seitan “duck” soup was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. My partner agreed. We plan to go again tomorrow to try more of the menu! We also appreciate the natural light and clean decor.

Great seitan - Edit
Same location as the old pickup only counter for Momo sushi. Everything was flavourful and reasonably priced. Seitan "duck" was pretty amazing.

Great addition to the neighborhood! - Edit
This place is a great addition to the neighborhood. We desperately need good vegan lunch options, and Chai-Yo definitely delivers on that. They are also open for small sharing plates (thai-pas, anyone?) and drinks (with a few full-sized dishes as well) on weekend nights. I’ve been by for both lunch and dinner and can’t decide which I like more!
Read moreThe best part is they make both Thai iced coffee and Thai iced tea, and both are so good I could cry!
The owner is also a co-owner st Chu-Chai, but Chai-Yo has its own thing going on. There is some menu overlap (pad Thai, for example) but most of the dishes here aren’t available at Chu-chai, and vice versa. The menu at Chai-Yo is smaller but has nice variety. And they aren’t afraid of spice here, either! While Chu-Chai has some dishes that are on the spicy side, Chai-Yo has a few that are designed for heat lovers like me!
You will not be disappointed. Go check it out!

New concept from the ChuChai family - Edit
I already visited the Chuchai but this new vegan Thai food restaurant by the same team is really different, the ambiance and the food are more cosy in a family-like setting. I took the « duck » soup with extra vegetables and it was so good especially the broth and the seitan duck ! Yum 🤤
