Part of a gourmet grocery store chain owned by H-E-B Grocery Company. Offers a good fresh produce selection, some natural body care products, but not much for vegans in prepared foods and foods. Open Mon-Sun 8:00am-8:00pm.

Pretty good - Edit
Pretty good! The prices are fair. I prefer the vegan options at Whole Foods I think, but central market has a great salad bar at this location.

Best Selection of ALL things food - Edit
The most amazing market I have seen coast to coast. Most varieties of produce, coffee, olives, potatoes, everything. Juices, ice cream, chocolate, bulk section, sushi. 5 dollar smoothies bar. Fresh ground nut butters.

Cons: Its a market has meat and dairy and sea food

Vegan Options In Store - Edit
There pre-made foods to-go. You will find vegan options. Just ask. Also their salad bar or sandwich shop also offers vegan options. I’m frozen food section you’ll find vegan tamales, burgers, etc. The product section is the best! They carry the best fruits and vegetables.

Bigger than Whole Foods - Edit
I'm surprised to see the low ratings of Central Market on here. There's a lot of vegan options here - not to mention their huge, beautiful produce section. There's a whole wall dedicated to different types of apples. There's a buy by bulk seasonings section. Every type of seasoning you could imagine. Great place to get your nutritional yeast (also in the bulk section). Great place for nuts. If you're into vegan eggs, sprouted grain bread/tortillas, daiya products, vegan burgers, vegan desserts, kombucha... um... healthy stuff - this is a Mecca for it. Plus it's fun to just explore.

Don't get what you pay for - Edit
IMHO, all Central Markets can be a little pricey, and this one is no different. On the plus side, if you need it, they probably have it, even if it is kind of random. Case in point, I often go here for buckwheat because WF's bulk buckwheat is often still a little green, not the ripe brown color it's supposed to be. They've got a wide selection of bulk products ranging from herbs, spices, teas, candies, grains etc. You can easily go to town with all of their great selections and then get a surprise once you get up to the counter (I got 3 or 4 items and I'm up to $50?). Hit or miss with the staff. They're usually knowledgeable but not always super friendly. I'd honestly rather go to the farmer's market, WF or TJ.

Pretty Good - Edit
Loud place to eat. Atmosphere is important to me. When eating raw vegan it seems like my portions are typically large. The food bar being "price per pound" may be a disadvantage financially. I think hummus must be heavy because the weight was heavy on the scale at check out but was all vegetables and legumes. Staff did not seem happy.

Cons: Loud and crowded, Expensive by the pound, No friendly staff
