There is indeed clearly marked vegetarian/vegan options on the menu, there just aren't very many of them as you might expect at this type of restaurant. I had the fettuccine with chili garlic sauce. I definitely could've done without the chili and the pasta was a more al dente than I would like, but it wasn't terrible. The service was also quite slow. Chips and other sides were good, my meat eating parents enjoyed their meals. We ate outside and had a great view of the lake with swans and many other birds plus the small ruins of a castle make for a very picturesque setting.
Very poor choice of options - only 2 main courses on the restaurant’s dinner menu, one of which was stuffed potato skins. The dessert option was vegan panacotta which was okay.
The bistro (bar) menu has only one vegan main option (a dahl) and a fettuccine which could be made vegan. The fettuccine was dry, stiff and very strongly flavoured. The Dahl was okay, cauliflower could have been hotter. No starter or dessert options on this menu.
As for the vegan breakfast, to say it is a cooked breakfast is a joke - the portions dwindled by the day. It consisted of a dry chickpea cake covered in hummus, one portobello mushroom and a grilled tomato. I wasn’t informed by staff if there were dairy free milks available or yoghurt. On my last day, I overheard a waiter saying there was porridge so I asked him for some, which was made with water as the chef informed it would have taken to long to make with soya milk. Porridge was lovely.
Having stayed here twice before, it was an extremely disappointing experience in terms of the food and the service in parts.
Seems like ‘tokenism’ to have a vegan option on their menu but they do not actually care about delivering good vegan food.
There are many places in the town with better menus, choice and better tasting food.
I highly recommend this hotel for vegan travellers. The hotel is practically perfect in every way. Specifically about the food - They have a vegan cooked breakfast as well as bistro and fine dining options.
On a recent stay I was a little disappointed that for starter and dessert there is no choice - only 1 vegan option on the restaurant menu. However, having said that everything was DELICIOUS. The menu is very much vegetable focussed so not much in the way of main proteins - legumes, tofu, tempeh etc. But as I said it's still delicious. A great option if you are travelling with omnis.
Great hotel in a beautiful location with nice vegan options - Edit
I stayed in the Lake Hotel and had lunch in the bistro and dinner in the restaurant. The bistro and the restaurant have the same vegetarian and vegan menu.
For lunch I had the falafel burger with sweet potato fries, with the salted caramel pie and banana chocolate ice cream.
For dinner I had the sweetcorn fritters for the starter, vegetable jalfrezi for main and chocolate mousse pie for dessert. The restaurant also included tomato and herb bread with olive tapenade before the starter, and a pear amuse bouche before the main.
The staff were really friendly, the food was tasty and it was great to have such a varied veg menu which included desserts.
After biking the national park, we stopped at the Lakeside Bistro for lunch. We came here because we saw that they had a separate vegan/vegetarian menu. Vegan is slightly limited but the tofu kabobs were amazing and probably the best risotto we have ever had! Great views of the lake too! We will definitely be back
I had the tofu kebab with couscous. So delicious and filling. They had vegan desserts and I opted for the caramel tart, beautiful dessert. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu. Soy milk was available for hot drinks.

Bel ristorante vista lago, elegante. Ho ordinato una lasagna vegana e la panna cotta. Il dolce eccezionale! Consigliato.

Good vegan/vegetarian bistro. - Edit
It is in the Lake Hotel, there are no signs from the street for the restaurant or bistro.
