Soprendente! - Edit
Straight away, loved that the wine list had clearly labelled vegan options. We had the vegan pinot grigio blush which was delicious! Followed by vegan starters of Arancini and Garlic dough sticks. We enjoyed these although expecting stringy cheese from arancini, this did not happen however was still tasty and the pesto dip for the dough sticks was lovely!

Sepárate vegan menu’s for both savoury and sweet. Lots of choice and fast, friendly service. I got the mushroom carbonara and garlic bread with sticky toffee pudding for dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite! And they have vegan Parmesan!

Great experience - Edit
They have a great range of vegan options including desserts and wines (ask for a vegan menu). Quick and friendly service. We got a pizza gusto (the caramelised onions made this!) and the risotto pepperanato (flavoursome) which were both delicious and filling which was a shame as we had no room for a sticky toffee pudding! Definitely visit if you’re in the area #Veganuary

One of the main reasons we visited Carlisle today was to check out the impressive vegan menu here. 20 reviews before mine and all 4* - they must be doing something right. Indeed they are. We started with an absolutely delectable bruschetta topped with a delicious home made tomato, basil and olive paste. Rather than going for a traditional pizza or pasta we opted for Italian dishes you very rarely see as vegan. A cannelloni and melanzane. The cannelloni was rich and full of finely diced mushrooms in a creamy sauce and the aubergines in the melanzane were perfectly baked. Soft and succulent. Both were presented in individual dishes piping hot from the oven. A beautiful restaurant in many ways.

Staying nearby as heading back down to Norfolk after a lovely holiday on Lewis and Skye. Found this lovely restaurant by chance. Great food, great service and the Melenzane with vg parmesan is the best I’ve ever eaten.

Best place in Carlisle for vegan food - Edit
I would be surprised to find any Italian restaurants provide more vegan options than Casa Romana - so many starters, mains and desserts to choose from (even sticky toffee pudding!) On this trip I had mushroom arincini, cannelloni and a mini Eton mess. Everything was absolutely delicious and it was such a treat not to get the standard tomato pasta/cheeseless pizza. This is definitely my new go to in Carlisle!

Good vegan options, nice people - Edit
They've got an extra vegan menu with pizza, pasta, antipasti and desserts. I was to stuffed from the pizza, so I couldn't try the really good sounding dessert options. Wine and beer is labeled veganfriendly too. The stuff was very friendly and the pizza good.

Amazing vegan options! - Edit
The best Italian vegan food we have had. Cheesy garlic bread and arancini for starter, pizza and pasta dish for main. The starters was by far the best part and would defiantly go back if we was in the area! Would recommend if ever in Carlisle!

Fantastic food, friendly service - Edit
This was one of the best meals out I've had as a vegan. Plenty of vegan options which are clearly marked on the menu. Even a vegan Irish Coffee on offer which I would have loved to have tried but unfortunately was too full. Both my partner (meat-eater) and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. The vegan cheesy garlic bread was absolutely incredible! Our server (Toto?) was so accommodating and friendly, and even brought me a lollipop with the bill after notifying me that the other complimentary sweets which my partner had contained traces of milk. He was so thoughtful and kind. An absolute credit and star! I only wish we lived nearby so we could become regulars!

Excellent choices.. - Edit
A whole vegan menu to choose from ... At least 5 starters, 6 mains and 3 puddings .... heaven! The food was well prepared and quick... Especially given that the waiter as he brought our food realised a mistake had been made and sorted it before he got to our table!

We stopped off here for a lunch break on our travels down south and I loved this find! They have tons of options for all courses on their vegan menu, and we were glad of the economical kids menu for our non-vegan plain-eating child in the party. The staff were great and I'd definitely go back.

100% recommend!! - Edit
SO MANY OPTIONS!!!! Having never been faced with so many vegan options before I didn't know where to start with my order!! I had the arancini, fusilli Alfredo with side of spinach, garlic pizza bread and onion rings to share with omni bf. Everything was fantastic and all the sharing bits were made vegan including the mayo brought out as a dip for the onion rings. We finished off with sticky toffee pudding, again delicious. This restaurant really seems to have thought of every possible customer and made sure there are plenty of options for everyone. Well done!!

Fantastic - Edit
Just come back from date night with my wife, we decided to try here as my daughter had recently been and said the food was very good. I had mentioned we were Vegan in my booking and the staff had remembered, we were shown the extensive Vegan menu, any specials in the main menu that were also vegan were pointed out, as were the Vegan wines and beers. The food was excellent, the vegan cheese was very tasty and melty, and the Vegan rose wine was lovely. Too full to try the puddings but the selection looked good and interesting. All in all a very enjoyable experience and nice to be made welcome by excellent staff.

Separate vegan menu with different options for a three course meal. Vegan sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream was excellent. Offering vegan cheese on pizzas would be good instead of being to bring your own.

Great vegan menu and fantastic service! - Edit
I visited Casa Romana last week with family. Our party consisted of two omnivores and two vegans, and we all found plenty of choice.
Read moreAs a vegan, I've sometimes settled for a simple tomato pasta or pizza without cheese at Italian restaurants, however the efforts Casa Romana have gone to in order to cater to plant-based eaters is really impressive. They offer a full vegan menu which is wonderfully varied. I enjoyed garlic bread for my starter and a lovely "creamy" mushroom pasta for my main.
During our meal, the chef made a real effort with us, coming out of the kitchen to ask for our opinion and offering us vegan parmesan for our pasta. Even though we were stuffed at the end of our meal, he emerged with some vegan desserts to try (a meringue and a bread and butter pudding) and both were delicious.
It was so wonderful to come to a mainstream restaurant and have our dietary choices welcomed and embraced rather than seen as an inconvenience.
Thank you so much, Casa Romana. We will definitely return whenever we're in town!
