Serves meat, vegan options available. There are 2 different restaurants on premises. Café 33 is the most reasonably priced and has two specific vegan items that were custom-created by famous vegan chef (and author of vegan Mexican cookbook Salud) - Eddie Garza. They have molletes and a vegan burrito on the menu and vegan milks for coffee. The vegan meals are available on their breakfast menu until 1:00 pm. The upstairs restaurant (Bartola) is expensive with a view - they have 3 different specially created vegan menu items there as well, also created by Eddie Garza. (Note from HappyCow: Vegan options were not reported for the 3rd restaurant in the hotel. Also, please check with the hotel for hours for the restaurants.) NOTE: Reported November 2023 to have limited vegan options – please send updates to HappyCow.

Amazing food

This app doesn’t let me rate 5 stars so that sucks but everything we had top tier quality food.

Be aware of their hours

I stopped by on a Sunday and they were closed at 10pm. I emailed them to ask them their hours and no response for two days. I went there on a Monday, had a drink on the expensive terrace Bartola with great views, and then at 7:30pm when I was ready to eat, they said they closed their restaurants at 5pm and there was no food service. Apparently the restaurants are only open from 2pm to 5pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, but the rooftop terrace - which is open til 11pm every day, apparently doesn't offer any food after 5pm, even though their menu suggests they do https://www.casadelrector.com/Menu_Bartola.pdf. Terrible. Just terrible.

Confused

We went for breakfast and they told us the only thing they have vegan is avocado. My Spanish is decent so I was super confused and asked if they can put it on bread and make avocado toast but they told me they didn’t have any vegan bread... we got up and left.

also I am referring to the **restaurant on the terrace** as we didn’t try the others

Pros: Pretty terrace area

Cons: No vegan options

Definitely Delicious

We sat upstairs on the middle terrace and it was great. Great service and pretty decent vegan options. We had the roasted cauliflower and the artichokes.

Delicious but small plate

Its amazing that this beautiful cafe has the vegan options! The vegan burrito is delicious but the portion is too small if you‘re hungry! The sweets looks amazing sadly non is vegan! Love the ambiente of the cafe and the more expensive terrace is perfect for a drink for sunset!

Lovely breakfast option

Tasty, great service and a beautiful atmosphere, there’s no sweet vegan options but the food is delicious! Pricing is quite high compared to portion size

Pros: It has two full time vegan options in the menu , The “egg” resembles the actual thing , It’s delicious!

Cons: Portion size , A bit cold , No vegan sweet options ):

Nice hotel restaurant with delicious vegan options

This is a nice boutique hotel that you might expect to have nothing vegan but they apparently commissioned a vegan chef to create recipes for their menu! I loved the tofu burrito in the cafe. It might be my favorite dish in the whole city (and I’ve eaten at many places here!) Got it with a coffee with almond milk and again with a green juice. It wasn’t as expensive as I expected but still a pricier option for Guanajuato.

The upstairs restaurant has an incredible view of the whole city and has 3 more vegan options but it was pricier (200 pesos, which is quite a lot for a meal in GTO) and I didn’t try it.

Pros: Delicious food, Nice place, Upstairs has incredible view

Cons: Pricier
