Exquisite modern and creative Chinese food - Edit
Our experience at Carré Jardin was nothing short of superb. We arrived at around 7:15 pm without a reservation, and the manager said that the place was fully booked that evening. We saw a small table for the staff next to the kitchen, and asked in Chinese whether we could sit there. The manager smiled in surprise at my Chinese, and said that we could sit at the small table, which they then set up for dinner.

- Fried tofu with bell peppers (tofu frit aux trois saveurs): 5/5 --- delicious
- Fried oyster mushrooms: 4.5/5 --- very strong and deep taste, but a bit too sweet for us
- Eggplant box (duo d'aubergines): 4/5 --- very popular, but we don't like deep fried
- Fried noodles with soy sauce: 5/5 --- simple, but oh so well made!
- Steamed rice (with nori & sesame) --- simple, but very tasty
- Dessert: a mix of many different flavours in a narrow glass. From top to bottom: thin peach slices, strawberry sorbet, creamy berry yoghurt, all wrapped in a delicious little pancake/waffle cone, with surprisingly tasty sweet popcorn at the bottom --- 5/5
The service and attitude of the staff was impeccable. We have been to hundreds of Chinese restaurants all around the world (including in China) for decades, and this is one of the most original and tasty we have ever been to. Well done to the chef, the manager and the friendly and professional waitress for a memorable evening.
Tip: reserve in advance, so as not to be disappointed. Or drop in unannounced with some fluent Chinese! :-)
Pros: Creativity and originality of the dishes, Quality of the ingredients, High-quality service
Cons: Dishes are rather small, but very tasty!

La plupart des plats sont vegans et les vg facilement transposables.
Nous avons tellement aimé que nous avons repris un plat différent chacun ! Nous y retournerons à la première occasion (changement de la carte par exemple).
A deux pas de la cathédrale Saint-Jean et des quais de Saône, au cœur du Vieux Lyon, facile d'accès en venant du métro ou de Presqu'île.

The food here is thoughtfully prepared and the portions run on the small side so take note. We also revered the wontons to start (a highlight for all at the table), followed by the MaPao Tofu (spiced to you liking when served), and the two noodle dishes - both good. 80 euros for the three of us and we left full. Would recommend trying Carre Jardin as it’s not the standard fare you’ll find in US vegan Chinese restaurants.

Finally a Chinese vegetarian restaurant in Lyon and we were not disappointed! As stated in other reviews, the food is really tasty and different to your usual Chinese restaurant, the service very friendly and the decor very nice. I can't wait to come back to taste the new menu in a few weeks :-)

Awesome veggie food! Menu is very unique, personal and different from typical asian restaurants - everything is vegetarian and the vast majority can be vegan too.
Read moreI had the shitake noodles (vegan) which were good; Balzhaque (vegan) which was really great and spicy wotons which were seriously delicious. Great value for money, so do what i did and pig out!
The icing on the cake is that the restaurant is run by two of the nicest people who offer such wonderful hospitality. I can't recommend trying this restaurant enough!
