Lived the vegan breakfast, it came quickly, the portions were generous, and everything was very tasty. We also tried the edamame bean hummus as a side order, sooooo garlicky! Which is a good thing 😄

Great vegan food with a few options to choose from. A huge plus is that it’s dog friendly too although does seem pricey for what you get.

Widest choice of vegan food in Stoke - Edit
While the Capello Lounge serves omni food, it probably has the widest choice of vegan food in the Stoke-on-Trent area (even though it’s in the neighbouring Newcastle-under-Lyme; don’t get me started on that!).
Read moreThey have a separate vegan menu available on request, and serve a variety of dishes such as mixed bowls (falafel and Mexican chiefly among them), curry, tapas and burgers (including a Beyond Meat burger).
They also have a number of vegan cocktails and beers, including some draughts.
The food isn’t exactly Earth-shattering, but it is tasty and the portions can be quite generous (but not uniform, so you might end up with a small portion on a bad day). The atmosphere inside is pleasant, but you can expect quite a long wait (sometimes even 40-45 minutes) and the prices are quite steep for the area.
Overall, quite possibly the best choice among the worst in an area that really deserves much better.
Pros: Wide choice of clearly marked vegan options, Pleasant atmosphere, Good location in Newcaste town centre
Cons: Oftentimes long waits, Quite expensive for the area, Uneven portion sizes

Could be worth a visit on a quiet day then.

Great hangout for breakfast - Edit
If you’ve been to a Loungers you know what you’re getting here. I had a quick stopover in Newcastle under Lyme and went hunting for breakfast when my usual place was closed. The breakfast here is awesome. Very filling portion. Fast service.

Pub atmosphere with some vegan options - Edit
Capello Lounge is a fun venue decorated with paintings on the wall with a pub vibe and a nice vegan menus, and I recommend the vegan burger. However, the good vegan option are limited and the prices can be more expensive then other vegan options in the area. Overall, I recommend Capello for a night out for drinks and some food with non-vegans, but for an exclusive vegan night out there are better options in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Hanley.

Exactly the kind of place I like to eat - Edit
Capello lounge is my go to place to eat in the nearby area. The food isn't too fancy which I must prefer, you don't need to rely on table service as it's order at the bar, it's Affordable, the music is always great and there are plenty of great options for vegans and gluten free with a separate menu for each. I'm not gluten free but my sister is gluten and dairy free but always enjoys eating here and has never had any issues. Just be warned that if you are gluten and dairy free The gf burger buns do have dairy in, there are other options though or you can just opt for a naked burger. The chips are amazing here and the vegan burgers are so good. They do seem to change up their menus but the current jackfruit burger is on point. This is a great place to go if you have meat eaters in your party as then everyone can enjoy a good meal. My only complaint is the vegan dessert choice is terrible and needs stepping up. But it's not too much of an issue as I can live without dessert. I would rate this place 5 star still however happy cow won't let me so 4 star it is.

a nice surprise - Edit
Visited on a early Monday evening (5ish) . Comfy chairs and a chilled out vibe. It has a small but dedicated vegan menu (only two pudding options). We both had the jackfruit burger with fries, vegan slaw, veganaise and a side salad followed by the chocolate and orange torte (very rich but delicious!) I would certainly consider going again if in the area.

Vegan options - Edit
When Cappello first opened I was blown away. They had (& still do) a vegan menu & gluten free menu which was one of the first local restaurants to do so. The environment and decor is pleasant & laid back, not too formal.
Read moreSince then however I have visited a few times and on many separate occasions the food has sometimes had dairy (sour cream) or meat on the dish & on another occasions the food has been cold. I was told that they would make a fresh portion of potatoes however it returned two minutes later in a steamy mush (clearly microwaved).
I stopped visiting Cappello after these experiences as I was very disappointed.
A few months ago I tried again & was very surprised to find that the food was better than it ever had been, I'd heard that they had a new chef and so the bar had been raised.
Give it a try & don't rely entirely on my experiences. I have personally found that it can be or has been, quite "hit & miss".

Large bar/cafe with vegan menu - Edit
Cappello Lounge is part of a chain of large bar/cafes serving drinks and food throughout the day. We ate here last Sunday and were pleased to find a separate vegan menu. I had a selection of three vegan tapas but also available were a Thai Vegetable Curry and a Falafel Burger. Vegan desserts, including a Dark Chocolate and Ginger Torte and a Fruity Flapjack, were on the menu although we were not hungry enough to order them.
Read moreYou order at the bar and service was prompt and friendly.
The Lounge was very busy, possibly because there are few other places open in Newcastle on a Sunday.
Pros: Separate vegan menu, Variety of vegan dishes available, Open every day
Cons: Not completely vegan
