Expensive but worth it!

We went on the tropical fruit tasting tour. Whilst the word “tour” is a bit loose . . . We enjoyed the experience. You sit under a pergola and taste exotic tropical fruit and receive a talk about the farm and the region, which is very interesting, then go for a short walk through farm trees. The fruit you get to taste is absolutely divine!! I love fruit and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to taste exotic fruit I’ve never eaten before!
We went in June (winter) so there wasn’t much in season, so we didn’t get to see very much fruit on the trees.

Pros: Farmers are very friendly and knowledgable , The fruit tasting is absolutely amazing, Ask for tips on how to grow tropical fruit trees

Cons: A bit pricey, Not really a farm tour - more a fruit tasting

Tropical fruit heaven

Tasting locally grown tropical fruit was on our to-do list while visiting far North Queensland.

The local map of the Daintree National Park only displays "fruit tasting" with no additional information. Well, it is so much more.

They grow over 70 different types of fruit on their farm. You get to taste the fruits that are in season and ripe. The fruit I got to taste: abiu, breadfruit, canistel, chempedak, Fijian longan, mamey sapote, mangosteen (purple), rollinia, santol, sapodilla, soursop, yellow mangosteen. The order that they provide it is fun too. Some are super sweet and then they sneak a couple of sour ones in-between. One was very sticky and it was so funny to see the fellow tasters' responses.

After the tasting, they take you for a walk around the property to show you some of the trees and tell you many more interesting facts. The 2 dogs (introduced as part of the family) accompany the tasting and tours that just add to the lovely experience.

Go hungry, they are very generous with the portions of fruit available.

You have to book to make sure you do not miss out! I will definitely go back there, but next time I will use the accommodation available too.

Pros: Beautiful tropical fruit - generous portions, Super friendly staff, Taste fruits that you did not know existed

Cons: Bit pricey - but totally worth it, Book, to not miss out
