Read moreAll starters and desserts are fully vegan, and there are 5-6 vegan mains. I had the starter with artichokes, which was great, the nutroast main, which was excellent, and we shared chocolate mousse and crema catalana for dessert, which was amazing.
The others I dined with, some of whom were non-vegans, also chose vegan options and were very happy. Highly recommended.

Für mich als Veganer ist es immer noch schwierig in Restaurants eine Auswahl an guten Speisen zu finden. Deshalb kann ich diese Küche nur feiern! Es war von Vorspeise, Hauptgang bis Dessert einfach so lecker und wirklich richtig gut.

Best vegan options in Basel - Edit
This restaurant offers since many many years exceptional good vegan options on the menu. Unfortunately one waiter recently always offers extra cheese if a person on the table orders a vegan menu. 4-5 stars otherwise. The "Nussbraten" is so good. English menu available.

3 course menu in arty atmosphere - Edit
We found this place by accident and were positively surprised. We reserved one day ahead. While they serve meat, more than half the menu is vegan. We choose the 3-course menu with Apium Cicer, celery carpaccio, Cherry tomatoes (1st course), Green spinach curry, celery, tofu, coconut milk, basmati rice (2nd course), Crema Catalana with coconut milk, passion fruit and ginger ice cream (3rd course) / honey melon soup with mint, oil and pepper (1st course), Cauliflower steak with potatoes (2nd course) and Johnny Crumble (3rd course). Everything was good, only the Crumble was really not to my taste, quite sweet and actually uncomfortably crumbly in the mouth, which despite its name most other Crumbles I tried were not. The Crema Catalana and Cauliflower steak were quite good, and we didn’t leave the table hungry. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant nicely decorated, with multiple plants on the balcony (you can sit and eat on the balcony). As it’s inside of the old brewery complexe, which is now an art center you can also explore the other levels of the complexe from here and walk up to the 4th floor, from which you have a good view over Basel.

After all the good reviews I read, I might have had too high expectations. I was slightly hoping for a touch of fine dining, but it was "just" a solid, proper vegan meal.
We went on "vegan monday" and had a vegan "four course menu". The location is nice and the dessert and the starter were really tasty. It's good that the four course menu doesn't cost more then the three course menu, because the "extra course" was a bit underwhelming.

I visit Basel at least once a month and I now frequent Cantina Don Camillo at least once when I visit.
Read moreThe welcome I get from Bruno and his team is excellent even when he is very busy. I would always recommend a reservation in the evening because it is popular. I usually travel to Basel alone and dine alone, and they cater for me very well.
The menu itself is both meat and plant based. Being vegan myself I always find something worth eating and am never disappointed. All of their drinks are vegan as well so there is never any worry from my side.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and am always recommended it to my work colleagues.
Thank you to Bruno and your staff. You really are great hosts and have a wonderful restaurant.

The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. Cute little gem! Menu has some unique foods and classics- although it’s not entirely vegan, it’s a great place to bring meat eaters and typical Swiss diet eaters and not feel left out😄

A very charming restaurant with a heart warming atmosphere. The food is very tasty and the potions are big. It‘s more expensive then other places but totally worth it. The best vegan food i‘ve ever had in a restaurant. I highly recommend this place to everyone (vegan or not).

It's on the second stock. Nice people with food made with love. They know what vegan is and the plate looked beautiful. It is a bit expensive but so is Switzerland. I paid 25 francs for lunch with a cup of tea.

This place is quite expensive but offers gourmet food and is worth the money. They have a vegan and a non-vegan menu card - a good place to eat out with omnivore friends. It is situated in a former beer brewery, but with an elegant atmosphere at the same time. Just a pitty that the food is not organic
