A beautiful cafe and outdoor space

Did a spot of remote working here recently - what a beautiful space. Dog friendly, laptop friendly and the food was great. Staff really welcoming and accommodating. Hope to be back soon!

Must visit

What a lovely spot!

We were hiking around the lake and I am glad we made this detour.
The entrance is a bit weird, around the back. But the scenery out back is amazing with the wooden decks.
Note that these decks are not open when it is rainy as they get slippery. Luckily one of the 2 cabins outside just became available so we could still sit outside.
However, indoors it is also very cosy.

The daily menu is posted, so keep an eye out on their page.
We had a vegan chickpea stew, with pita, fries and oat creme fraiche and the vegan salad combo. Everything was very tasty and clearly freshly prepared. The salad was quite small though. Could have eaten a double portion ;)

There were 3 vegan cake options, the ginger cake was very tasty.

Staff was very friendly.
Would definitely visit again!

Pros: The little shop has upcycled fabric gifts

Good vegan, healthy options

For a small place, felt like in the middle of nowhere, good vegan options.

Could be a little more choices though.

Everything is clearly marked. Healthy, no junk food (maybe with the exception of fries). Tasted fresh and delicious.

They also offer a small selection of vegan cakes. I haven't tried them.

Pea & Oat is available as vegan milk alternative. (Plant- based milk is not mentioned on the menu)

Parking right in front of the house.

Nice outdoor seating area.

Unbeatable location

A really pretty spot surrounded by towering trees and greenery

The food is very wholesome, generous portions and well priced - also refreshing to see the meat options as the most expensive, then veggie and vegan being the cheapest!

Service was left wanted a bit, the young girls were friendly but weren't able to answer any questions and didn't seem interested in trying to find solutions

Pros: Location , Wholesome food, We'll priced

Cons: Service

Great made from scratch food!

I've been going to the Caban for at least 20yrs! They have reduced their menu since the pandemic to be safe in the kitchen but still always offer 1 vegan and 1 veggie special and lots of cakes. It's always cooked from scratch, very tasty, large portions with lovely side salads. They now have cabins outside adding to the tables on the decking and the inside is attractive, spacious and well ventilated. It's in a lovely setting and they have local artists work on the walls. Definitely recommend!

Pros: Always a vegan and veggie special, Attractive and spacious indoors, Lovely watching the bird feeders!

My go to Café

Whenever I get the chance it’s one place I’m happy to eat.

Being a very fussy vegan and previously veggie for over 36 years Y Caban has always been one of the eateries in North Wales I’m happy to come to where I know they’re careful with the cooking.

Bwyd ardderchog!

Pros: Vegan options on the menu and vegan cake, Great friendly staff, Vegan options on the specials board

Cons: Not close enough to my house

OK But Not Vegan Friendly

Not really vegan friendly, only offering one soup and nothing else, not even soya milk for tea. The soup was nice though. The building itself is nice and airy and relaxing with a nice view, and good for children.
