Super affordable, good coffee - Edit
Had a soy cap, raspberry croissant, and donut. Coffee and croissant were superb. All came to €5.40. Vibrant atmosphere with locals and was able to find a seat outside.

Hectic - Edit
I visited early morning en route to St Peters Basilica. It was hectic and I found it difficult to understand what was vegan. I don't speak Italian so my fault but one staff member tried to tell me everything was vegan when it wasn't. The lady taking the money was really helpful though and I enjoyed my cornetti.

Many vegan pastries, very affordable - Edit
Most places in Rome offer at most a croissant as a vegan option. That’s not the case at Caffè Trastevere. Although not labeled at all, the store offers several very tasty vegan pastries. We tried their donut, a croissant filled with marmelade and their apple turnover. All three tasted great, the apple pastry was our favorite one. They also offer plant based milk (soja).
Read moreThe place is very busy and mostly crowded by locals and not tourists. Although the staff is friendly, ordering can be a bit hectic as they tend to multitask several orders at the same time. The young waitress that served us behind the counter was very knowledgeable about their vegan options, while her colleague was not. There is no table service as far as we could tell, so you will have to order at the counter most likely.
Last but not least, the prices are very low. Especially the pastries at EUR 1.50 a piece are great value for money and even cheaper than their coffee (EUR 2).
Pros: Good choice of tasty quality vegan pastries, Amazing value for money
Cons: Ordering is difficult when the place is busy

Our favorite pastry place from our Italy trip! - Edit
Caffe Trastevere is a local cafe, always busy, incredibly cheap, and best if you’re staying in walking distance and can take your breakfast back to your room. The cornetto (croissant) is vegan and delicious! And they usually have several other pastry selections available. Their coffee with soy milk is a small size if you’re American (so order 2), but sooo good!
Read moreWhen traveling with kids, it’s important for us to have a quick breakfast option available. So glad we chose our Airbnb to be close to this cafe. We thought every cafe in Italy would be this delicious and (but that wasn’t the case). Hands down some of THE BEST vegan food we had on our trip.
The line moves fast and is full of locals, so make sure you know what you want and can order quickly.

Amazing pastries! - Edit
They were pretty cleared out by the time we arrived, but they still had a few vegan pastries! Delicious. It’s a bit chaotic inside and has more of an authentic Italian bar feel than a touristy kind of cafe, which I enjoyed!

Good vegan options here! I enjoyed a strawberry gelato and a croissant with jam for a good price. The atmosphere is nice and it’s perfect for on the go. They had a few other vegan flavors, all fruit based. They also had a few other vegan croissants. I would recommend going if in the area!

Great breakfast spot - Edit
A vegan croissant and a double espresso soy cappuccino was the perfect start to a day exploring Rome. They had three vegan options the morning I was there - plain croissant, jam croissant and doughnut. The woman behind the counter was so lovely explaining the vegan options and when I said I wanted a large coffee she asked me whether I'd like a latte or cappuccino and reassured me straightaway it would be made with soy milk as I'd ordered a vegan pastry. Would definitely visit again

perfect start - Edit
very Italian atmosphere, staff knows about vegan and will be happy to point out the available options. At Cafe Trastevere you do not feel disturbing with your questions even when the place is packed. Come early as we were only able to grab marmelade cornetti with the amazing coffee Coffee (Kimbo).

Great breakfast food! - Edit
Got two different vegan pastries (a round donut kind of thing and a jam-filled donut) and they were both great. Despite being very authentically Italian, they managed to help me perfectly in English. My SO had the non-vegan option and was very enthusiastic too. Wasn’t expensive ar all. Only very minor downside is that I didn’t see any savoury vegan options, just sweet, but I guess that’s how the Italians do it. All in all would recommend!
