Great vegan Cuban sandwiches!! - Edit
The Loop location kept popping up as I searched for restaurants!
Read moreFinally, I succumbed... Man o'man was my La Playa sandwich TASTY!!
I almost ... almost want to return and KISS the Chef!!
I am typically WFPB .. so, I almost didn't take this splurge .. however, it was well worth the momentary cheat!
The elements of the sandwich fit together perfectly!
The sandwich was pressed which made it even better!!
I will definitely return to Cafecito during my next visit to Chi!!
Pros: Warm welcome/service , Vegan menu, Good value for the price
Cons: None , Nope, Nada

Fantastic flavor - Edit
Ordered the vegan vaca frita. The taste was fantastic and the restaurant has MULTIPLE vegan options. Hits the spot if you want Cuban food. Unfortunately I think the portion size is highly lacking for $17. I'd go again but order one of the cheaper items next time. Also convenient for hostel goers next door.

Cafecito Saved Me! - Edit
As I'm preparing to leave Chicago in a couple of hours, I had to get packed and ready to check out of the Ida B. Wells Hostel (I highly recommend) and found myself with no time to venture out on a specifically "Vegan" quest for breakfast. As is the case with most hostels I've stayed at, they do offer free breakfast, but the Vegan offerings are practically nonexistent, with only doughy bagels and jelly, or granola/cereal with no plant-based milk offered. I prefer to eat nothing. Nevertheless, there happens to be a wonderful café immediately adjacent to the hostel - Cafecito! And they have "Vegan Specialties" and I've made a point of uploading a photo of that portion of the menu here, as I literally wolfed down the Vegan Pan con Bistec I ordered, along with a large coffee (their coffee is da' bomb!) And the woman who took my order made me my coffee fresh and graciously added the two packets of organic stevia, that I always carry with me on trips, along with the soy milk that offer as well. They have a total of nine (9) items on their Vegan menu, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, including background music playing at just the right level, plenty of tables and chairs for solo diners, couples and groups, where you can sit and work, socialize or map out your tour of Chicago. I definitely recommend them if you happen to be in the area.

Good vegan options and authentic - Edit
Being from Miami and a Cuban person, I can say that the cafe con leche and tostada are on point. Everything else we got was great too and as authentic as can be while keep things vegan. Price was good and staff was real chill. The place is comfortable and music is real nice.

Consistently delicious w/ great options! - Edit
The American/drip coffee isn’t great, but the food is fantastic. I’ve tried the Mixto Vegano plate, and the Sabor Impossible and La Playa pressed sandwiches. All were delicious, filling, and fresh. The bread they use for the pressed sandwiches is amazing.
Read moreIt’s a great atmosphere to sit and enjoy your food or get work done. There’s a hostel right next door, so it’s also a good place to chat with interesting travelers from all over.
Pros: Dedicated vegan menu w/ good variety, Plenty of seating, Friendly service

Such a tasty meal! Going to stop by again before my train out. This location apparently has a slightly more limited menu (no yucca, no breakfast sandwiches) but still plenty of choices
