A typical brown Dutch cafe/bar that's hosting a fully vegan pop-up lunch on Saturdays (only). Each week the menu changes and will include a vegan carrot cake with hemp seeds. On the other days the food is not all-vegan. Open Tue-Thu 16:00-01:00, Fri 16:00-02:00, Sat 13:00-02:00, Sun 16:00-01:00.

Saarein - LGBTQ+ but welcomes all

Friendly 'local' Amsterdam bar in the Jordaan district. Small, 'gezellig' (cosy and socialble) cafe-bar. Excellent but limited vegan lunch/cake choices (on Saturdays only, I believe). Small area to sit outside when the sun shines. Former Women-only bar now open to all that are LGBTQ+ cool. Friendly staff, and always an alternative to milk (oat, soya, etc,) available for those who like a 'milky' coffee. Pool table downstairs. Mix of locals, students, expats and visitors to town.

Pros: Local bar/bohemian atmosphere, Vegan food (Saturdays), Friendly staff & real mix of customers

Super nice home made vegan food

I love how she makes all the food herself with a lot of love and it shows. The food is really nice and full of flavor. I loved the quiche and the hummus with pita.😄

Great for lunch

Great place to have lunch. We went as a group of 6 on a Saturday. Since it's a bit outside of the tourist area it wasn't crowded at all. Great choice of vegan food: quiche, pizza, sandwiches, hummus, soup, poke bowl, sushi. Drinks: smoothie, coffee, tea, beer.

Friendly traditional café

I went along for the Saturday lunch and a coffee, arriving at opening time. The greeting was genuinely friendly. Saarein has a long history as s women’s bar and, while it now welcomes a wider crowd, it’s still somewhere women will feel safe. I opted for the daily special - pulled mushroom and bulghur in a pitta, with a side salad. It was delicious, the rich earthy flavours leaving me grasping for the sorts of words you see in beer tasting notes. The beer range is wide and includes a number of Dutch and Belgian craft offerings. Highly recommended, pity the vegan day is only Saturday.

Pros: All vegan on Saturday, Very friendly , Safe, space

Cons: Fewer options at other times

Alternatief lesbisch cafe in Amsterdam

Lekker vegan eten voor een lage prijs op zaterdag tussen 13 en 17. Lesbisch/queer café.
