Good Vegan Options - Edit
I visit here quite frequently and the vegan options are always good! I’ve tried the majority of their vegan dishes including the ramen, sushi stack, sandwiches, and some of their breakfast items. The only thing I didn’t like was the tofu scramble, but it just wasn’t seasoned enough in my opinion. the staff are always super nice and don’t mind you asking questions about the menu items. Make sure to check their insta or facebook to see what vegan cake they have, they offer a different one each week. The best one so far has been the bisscoff cake, it was SO good. Besides their food items they also offer coffee drinks; they have almond and oat milk.

Fantastic Find - Edit
Cafe Koa is owned by a lovely woman, Melanie, who is genuinely excited to provide delicious vegan options. We have been 3 times since finding this place - dinner, lunch and brunch, and we have been happy with everything we have tried. For dinner we tried the fried green tomatoes and corn cakes for apps, Zeppin Ramen with tofu and tempeh for main course and they had mocha peppermint cake that was fantastic. For lunch we tried the Rio tacos - also fantastic served with really tasty rice and black beans. For brunch we did the tofu scramble and the tempeh hash - so good! The portion sizes are substantial and the food is clearly made with love. Melanie has stopped to chat with every time we have been there, and she is delightful!

Best spot near Oak Island for Vegans - Edit
There are several menu options - I had the Koa Ramen with Tofu, and others in my group had ramen dishes with Tempeh and the Mississippi Queen sandwich. Everything was delicious! We appreciated that there were multiple different choices, and clearly marked on the menu. They usually have a vegan dessert option - we shared a coconut pineapple cake - yum! Also, loved the vibe of the restaurant! Cozy feel, nice decor, live music... Definitely worth spending some time walking around Southport as well - cute town.

Delicious - Edit
These owners run Kai-Joe's, Cafe Koa, and Koko Cabana, and they're pretty much the only places to get vegan food around OKI and SP. They're so delicious and the owner Austin is so friendly. Great for brunch.

Nobody does it better - Edit
If you're in South Port, you must go to Cafe Koa. Upon walking in, the energy and atmosphere of the restaurant were great, but what was even greater was the incredible staff. We felt like we were part of the family. They were so attentive, kind, just wonderful. The food was beautiful and delicious! The "Could U B Loved" for Brunch was packed with savory flavor and was plentiful. We also got a side of Fried Green Tomatoes with agave. I haven't been able to find any vegan version of those anywhere else - so tasty! They have vegan dishes for breakfast (brunch), lunch, dinner and plan to add more vegan dishes soon. If I could give this place over 4 stars, I would! We cannot wait to go back there!
