Plats chaleureux 🌞 - Edit

Enjoyed my experience here - Edit
Lovely little cafe on Wellington Street. Friendly service, fast wi-fi, small seating area. The menu is fully vegetarian, but there are many vegan options, all of which are clearly labelled so. I had their daily special, a vegan pulled pork panini, with a side of coleslaw, both of which were delicious.

Disappointing changes - Edit
This place used to be vegan, now it’s vegetarian. Also used to be zero waste, now has single-use coffee cups, etc. The food is okay, the coffee hit or miss, but the service is very cordial.

Friendly & tasty - Edit
Friendly staff. They have a plate for kids with seitan nuggets, fruits, lemonade and a toy from Renaissance, the local thrift store. Such a good idea!
Read moreThe salad I ordered was really yummy and filling. There's a terrace in the summer, and a room downstairs with toys for the kids to play. There's also a zero waste little store at the back.
The grilled cheeze is also delicious, but filled with grilled onions, so my difficult kids didn't like it, but the adults did.
We always stop here when we're in the area.

Fabulous place and food - Edit
Oh well where should I start? The place its self is just amazing, very friendly people. A shop that offers “zero waste” at the back of the cafe which is perfect.
Read moreThe cafe itself is simply excellent, the food, the cafe, the chai, the matcha, the pastries (croissants, chocolatine, scones....and burgers, salades.) and yes for sure they are vegan!
The little plus: an amazing space downstairs where arts for different artist are displayed.
And in the summer a terrace outside :-)
If you want to chilled or work then you can come and enjoy this space!
Came three times and I have not been disappointed once!
Pros: vibes , good for value , excellent food

Amazing vegan croissants! - Edit
Cafe Jardin has the flakiest, vegan-butteriest, most delicious croissants! I brought a bunch to a gathering and everyone was shocked to find out they were vegan...they're that good! I've also had the vegan cashew-cream croissant and the banh mi sandwich and both were outstanding.
Read moreAnd a special shout out to the cafe chef/owner(?) - I was looking for some vegan, gluten-free pastry options for 2 celiac friends and they didn't have anything ready, but the chef offered to make some special gf cashew-cookies in 10 mins while I waited—my friends were so grateful! The customer service is always top notch. 5+++

Great lunch sandwiches - Edit
We stopped in for lunch and tried both of the grilled sandwiches that were available for lunch. I especially enjoyed the BLT and my teenager enjoyed his grilled cheese with caramelized onions. I love that this place is zero waste.

Great zero waste inventory & vegan snacks - Edit
Vegan pastries are really tasty, specifically this brownie cookie hybrid thing. Loved that they have La Tasse (homemade lemonade is very good), and lots of zero waste stuff.😄

Friendly cafe - Edit
The cafe shares a local with the zero waste grocery store LOCO. At first you go in the cafe and in the back there is the grocery store LOCO. Note that there is no seating area inside, but there is a small patio outside. The staff is super friendly and the cafe is zero waste. You can bring your own containers to get your food and beverage. I had a vegan kiwi-matcha pop which was good. I also had a chocolatine and a croissant, which were very good (they are made by Croissant Croissant located on Mont-Royal).

Really nice people and cute place. I tried the BLT sandwich and the chocolatine. It was so good I ordered another one since it had been ages since I had had one and legit filled the empty hole in my life without it.

best breakfast in town!!! - Edit
if you have the chance to breakfast at this place, please go there and check out there ‘brunch’. they will serve you, scrambled tofu with incredible good tempeh and kale salad. (maybe ask for lots of dressing on the kale). it was the best ever tasted tempeh we had, we enjoyed the atmosphere and I really liked the combination with the zero waste shop

Plant-based, not vegan. - Edit
This is a cute cafe and a nice addition to the local community. Unfortunately, they are more focused on environmentalism than on animal rights (the two should not be exclusive).
Read moreAs such, while they do not serve any animal food on the menu, they continue to host workshops promoting animal exploitation (how to start a local apiary, and how to prepare and eat insects are two recent examples).
Still offering some of the better plant-based options in the neighbourhood, it is a bit jarring to see animal exploitation openly advertised on their social media.
