A real find!

We found Cafe Irie on a visit to newquay in July and it is a gem of a place!

Having visited Newquay many times in the last 10 years I am sorry to see it turn into the British version of some tacky Spanish Hen and Stag resorts. Cafe Irie is a chilled out haven away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist masses, and more importantly, a welcome break from the over priced low quality food served in other places in the town.

Located in a tiny cottage, the place is full of quirky charm. Sofas and beanbags to sit on,an array of brightly coloured furniture and some fab pictures on the walls, Cafe Irie is funky without being vaguely 'up its own [censored]!'

They serve a good selection of veggie food, all fresh produce and home made. I enjoyed a falafel wrap with spicy wedges and a strong black coffee (a good coffee can be so hard to find!)We did wait a long time for our order to be taken, but it was very busy to be fair.

We could have sat all afternoon in the relaxed atmosphere of the upstairs of the cafe, but moved to allow people in as there seemed to be plenty waiting for a seat!

Only regret we found this place on our last day and didn't get a chance to visit on an evening to soak up some good tunes and a glass of wine!

Pros: unique interior, choice of veggie food, great coffee

Cons: slight wait to be served
