Friendly staff & unique food, but.. - Edit
We popped into cafe harvest after living it up in the prater theme park. Super important to note: this place is cash only (one of my pet peeves as we get absolutely rorted on ATM currency conversion)
Read moreLimited in what we could order as a group of 4 with about 50 euros, we got a couple serves of Austrian plum and poppyseed pasta and scrambled tofu as well as a lentil bowl. The food was super tasty! Unique flavours that we hadn’t had before and was generally a pleasant experience with a very delightful server (there was also a dog there and she was so cute!)
Here are some critiques:
-no card payments. I understand that card fees can be a killer for small business, but put those fees on the customer if you’re that worried about it.
-No water (including tap) unless you paid for it.
-menu was supposedly all vegan according to the server (which is not what some other reviews here say), aside from offering cows milk for their coffees. You’re so close guys! Ditch the cows milk. Your efforts to be ethical and fair towards animals falls short when you continue to support possibly the most evil and cruel part of the animal product industry
Pros: Unique flavours, Delightful staff, Ethical kitchen practices
Cons: Cows milk option for coffee, No card payments, No free water

cosy vegan spot - Edit
lovely little vegan restaurant with a very warm and cosy interior. many tables were booked up & reserved - we luckily got a table for 2 by the window, so may be best to reserve if you are thinking of visiting here. i ordered the vegan burger for mains. apologies no picture of the burger as i was so hungry, but this thing was huge and loaded up with many veggies! salad, vegan coleslaw, vegan patty, vegan cheese and a toasted brioche bun with burger sauce spread all over - it was honestly delicious and the vegan patty was the best part. the coleslaw was particularly tasty too. only downside was that i could not fit the whole thing in my mouth, so had to eat the burger dissected. the burger came with tortilla chips and variety of 3 dips. this was actually a nice treat compared to having fries. the tortilla chips felt a lot lighter and didn't make me feel so stuffed afterwards, meaning there was room for dessert 🧁! i ordered the apple strudel with vegan ice cream and vegan whipped cream for desert. this was genuinely the most delicious vegan desert i have ever tasted. the pastry was light and fluffy, the apple/fruity filling was sweet and soft. the strudel was warm, contrasting with the coldness of the ice cream and whipped cream perfectly. i couldn't believe how good this was and i was so so impressed. would honestly come back just to have the apple strudel again. my boyfriend ordered the doner kebab, which consisted of seitan doner meat stuffed in a pita with veggies, tzatiki, salad etc. i tried the seitan doner meat and it was very tasty! i'm not usually a fan of seitan but this was done very well. overall a really, really good meal out.

Few vegan options - Edit
After seeing the reviews on HC, I was expecting a variety of vegan options. On the Thursday night I visited, the only vegan dishes were Pelmeni and Goulash. I had two kinds of Pelmeni with tofu and krauter both were really good. Goulash soup was nice too. For drinks I tried the Marillen Spritz suggested by staff and loved it. Sadly no vegan desserts available. No English menu.

No desserts??? There were no cakes? So disappointing, you should go back another time, they normally have a selection of delicious cakes

Yes! There were so many cakes when I was there. Out of maybe 6 or more, 3 or 4 were vegan. 🤔 and they had so many vegan options. Maybe the chef went on vacation or something. Oh man, I’m sorry you didn’t get so many options. Seems unusual and quite unfortunate. 🫂

Just okay - Edit
I really wanted to like this restaurant as many before but the food was just average. It was great to taste a local dish but it just tasted average. The icetea was delicious and a lot. The "schöner döner" my bf had was unfortunately pretty bland as well.

just ok - Edit
We went to the all vegan brunch but it was just ok. The buffet was quiet small and the food wasn't overwhelming for a price of 21€ (without drinks). I had higher expectations :/

Delicious - Edit
We went for dinner, it was very good! They have a completely vegan menue with mainly austrian dishes. Also desserts, cakes and coffee. I tried a goulash with pasta dumplings which was very good, as well as the apple strudel I had as dessert. The portions were big and the service was very friendly! It’s very cosy inside, but they have also a nice terrace outside. Definitely worth to visit!

Creamy Mac and Cheese - Edit
I had the meal of the day which was a traditional dish that was something like a mac and cheese. Amazing. It was rich, creamy, beautiful and the cheesy flavors were great. The Black Forest cake was equally as rich and decadent. We were offered tap water- always a plus. I enjoyed my meal.

Read moreReally cute vintage styled café with vegan food. Simple menu with a few dishes and a cooler with cakes by the bar. Our food was pretty good, we had the tzatziki and olives starter and 2x Schöner Döner (with seitan kebab) as well as the homemade lemonade (Mango/Ginger and Pomegranate/Rose). All in all pretty good, although the wait for our food was quite long, despite t being outside of peak times (4pm). Very popular spot as well, with few free tables.
Pros: Simple, delicious food
Cons: cash only, quite long wait for food

Cozy - Edit
Nice spot with cosy vibe. The food was fine, but I won't be dreaming about it after. The waiter did not seem to like his job, never mentioned the day's special, by the time I spotted the chalkboard, my food was already served, so be sure to ask proactively.

Happy Coincidence - Edit
On our walking tour from St. Stephen's Cathedral to the Prater, we stumbled upon Café Harvest by chance. I had actually promised my wife a piece of Sachertorte, but the usual suspects – Café Demel, Hotel Sacher, and Café Central – were hopelessly overcrowded. To our delight, Café Harvest offered a tempting vegan version of the Sachertorte. We immediately settled in and were not disappointed: The café impresses with a wonderfully relaxed ambiance, friendly staff, and pleasant background music. The almond milk cappuccino exceeded all expectations, so much so that I had to order a second one. I wholeheartedly recommend Café Harvest. A true insider tip for connoisseurs!
