Delicious vegan brunch - Edit
We came here during brunch and it was very busy, we waited about 30 minutes to get a table. We said first available as they have heat lamps for the outdoor tables. Table was perfect, lots of spacing between tables and they diligently check vaccine cards (saw them turn away a lady wearing a chin diaper who said she “forgot” hers and could they seat her anyway—“no”.).
Read moreIn any case it was well worth the wait, we both got vegan scrambles with tofu, mine was with mixed spicy greens and biscuits and mushroom gravy—my boyfriend’s scramble came with grilled potatoes. Food was really delicious, service was great and attentive. Restaurant is fairly large but beautiful and inviting. I would be here every weekend if I lived in Seattle.
Oh!! And I completely forgot the amazing vegan waffle. Mouth watering as I write this review and I remember how good it was.
One last update from today. It really annoys me to pay a 50 Cent up charge if you want vegan rather than cows milk cheese. But the vegan food is good albeit highly salted and seasoned.

Delicious brunch - Edit
We like to come here on special occasions, like playing hooky from work. I love the cinnamon roll, golden milk latte, and southern platter (tofu, biscuit and gravy, sautéed greens). Mango passionfruit nog was also really refreshing. Nice ambience if you can get a spot near the window. Most (but not all) menu items can be made vegan.

Disappointing - Edit
Had the vegan spinach and artichoke dip to start - it was fine, a fairly small portion and not amazing
Read moreFrench dip - saw so many good reviews of this, and I'm confused? It was a heated sandwich, which made the bread kinda chewy. The dip was just broth. The fries were on the verge of being undercooked
Cocktails - watery and didn't taste of much

Used to be better, quality has changed - Edit
Going to Cafe Flora used to be my favorite part of being in Seattle. I was glad that they had kept their mouthwatering coconut cake as they continued to innovate, but over the years it went from being a soft cake with tons of coconut in it and subtle undertones of intricate flavors, to being a dry cake that is overly sweet and just tastes like frosting. It seems that they've changed recipes, or simply stopped putting in the work that they used to. The restaurant is too expensive for what it is now. Their burger also used to be better, I still love the fries though. They don't have enough vegan options considering what is now doable with vegan food. 20 years ago they were surely the best vegetarian restaurant in Seattle, but they need to catch up now. It was a dollar to add vegan mozzarella to the burger, and it tasted like Daiya. Dairy cheese was cheaper to add, so they tax vegans here. Even if it wasn't Daiya, it sure did taste the same. I was expecting something unique from somewhere that brands themselves as a tad bit "finer" of dining ($$$). Plating is nice. Interior and staff are welcoming.

Great vegan brunch - Edit
We’ve been here a few times and have always enjoyed ourselves. On our latest visit we went for brunch and tried their avocado toast, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon roll, side of seasoned tofu scramble—and tasted a bite of our friend’s carrot pancakes. Everything was good but especially the tofu scramble. Probably the best tofu scramble I’ve ever had. I highly recommend pairing it with the biscuits and mushroom gravy.

They have some good vegan options & make tasty cocktails. I had the Flora Grain Bowl and yam fries and was happy with my meal! They also make a delicious golden milk using alternative milk.

We had the vegan Brownie, which was quiet chocolaty. The coffee (late with oat milk) was not so good, though.

Great atmosphere, delicious food - Edit
I’ve eaten here a few times, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times were really good. For dinner last night up I had the risotto and my partner had the tacos dorado. They were both so good! It was hard to save room for desert. And I’m pretty sure all the deserts were vegan. The vanilla ice cream from Full Tilt was soft and perfect for the rhubarb crisp. Will definitely go back!

Always a Relaxing Treat - Edit
Cafe Flora has survived the pandemic and is still offering dine-in: They have a relaxing atmosphere whether inside or fountainside on their covered patio (which they had pre-pandemic as well. They also added additional covered space outside.
Read moreMy favorite is brunch: and their vegan waffle with seasonal updates is delicious. Recently, the ginger rhubarb corn waffle with tahini butter was exceptional. They also have a fabulous vegan cinnamon roll topped with frosting and pecans.
Their holiday prix fixe menus are always a treat.

I do miss the rotating art exhibits from pre-pandemic days. There was always a wonderful selection.

Best tofu scramble, amazing cinnamon roll. - Edit
Best tofu scrambled I had anywhere, on the butternut and kale scramble it was smoky. The cinnamon roll was delicious, just right amount of sweetness, really big size, great to share, came out hot and had crispy edges with fluffy interior. We order the golden milk and fig orange latte, golden milk was delicious balanced flavors, the fig orange latte was beautiful but I couldn’t really find the fig or orange flavoring coming through, it was still a delicious latte though. I definitely want to come back again next time I’m in town to try other things on the menu.

Great vegan options! The saffron mushroom risotto was tasty, the grain bowl was good but salty, the crisp was good but sweet. Everything felt a little pricey but overall solid meal.

Must Try - Edit
Wow! I can’t believe it took me so long to come here - the food is amazing, everything we tried was awesome! For apps we ordered the Yam Fries and the Coconut Tofu Wraps - both absolutely delicious!! I had the Turkish Cauliflower Polenta made vegan and that was sooooo good! So much flavor - the basil pesto and dates did it for me! I will be going back and having this again! My bf ordered the Nettle Pesto Rissoto and this was also absolutely delicious as well. For dessert we ordered the coconut cake which was so delicious - not too sweet, slightly more dense cake and frosting. I can’t wait to go back and try more as well as get some of these amazing dishes again. Everything was so flavorful and thoughtfully prepared.

Unique vegan options - Edit
The menu offers sufficient vegan options. I enjoyed the pesto-mushroom-nettle risotto. It was delicious. The side salad’s dressing was salty. Service was excellent, and the atrium seating offered a peaceful, attractive setting. Others in our group enjoyed the black bean burger. I would welcome a return trip to this establishment.

Hoped for more vegan options - Edit
The interior of this restaurant was a beautiful atmosphere but I was a little disappointed that as a vegetarian restaurant they didn’t have more options open to vegans too. The waitress was a bit rude to my friend and there was quite a wait. Quite pricey, but once we finally got our meals the food itself was very delicious and a very large portion.

Lazy with their vegan options - Edit
The vegan options they have are good enough, but this place is a little too dairy and egg reliant for 2020. Why go to a veg restaurant with only 1/2 the menu available for vegans? Might as well just stick with Plum when looking for a nicer meal in this price range.

Back to 5 stars - Edit
Used to love this place for many years. Unfortunately, lately the food quality (especially breakfast) is not as good and some staff seem permanently grumpy and one feels as though your presence is an inconvenience. I went in earlier this week and waited over 5 min for someone to seat me while I listened to the staff talk about their families just behind the wall of kitchen behind the espresso bar, if anyone had stopped for a moment and looked out they would have seen they had a customer (and the restaurant only had a few tables filled at the time)...I finally just left as it didn't seem anyone was going to come out anytime soon and I had a limited time for lunch. Still lots of nice folks here, but a noticeable change after many years of great food and service. Hope the greatness this place once had will return!

Overrated and overpriced - Edit
I used to like this place many years ago, but their dishes have become greasy and overpriced. The tagine dish is not really tagine. It’s just a little bit of quinoa with lots of oil and greasy vegetables with some spice that kind of resembles spices from tagine. Everything else is just badly prepared. Not a fan of super greasy overpriced food.

Overrated - Edit
I personally think this place is overrated. Food is good, and the place is really cute but the experience is horrible. Always have to wait at least 45 minutes. One time they told us to wait 30mins, we wait and came back and told us it was going to be 30 more minutes, we were frustrated but we waited and then we came back one last time and they told us it was going to be 45 more minutes for a party of two. Host was super rude and condescending. It’s not worthy.

Wonderful gourmet vegetarian restaurant with excellent vegan options - Edit
Cafe Flora is a restaurant you must visit if you are in from out of town. I've been going to Cafe Flora for about seven years, and I have to say it's one of the best restaurants in Seattle. They have an incredible brunch on weekends but get there early as it can have a line for brunch, especially if the weather is nice. This is one of those restaurants where anything you order will be wonderful, but I do recommend asking the staff what they recommend as the menu changes frequently. Everything on the menu is very well-labeled, including gluten-free options. Dinner is outstanding, and I love their soups and fried avocado appetizer. I love going there during an off-time when it's quiet, and I can read and drink tea while waiting for my food.
