Vegan cafe run by a small collective. Has a menu of the day with quiches, gnocchi, soup, burgers, and cakes. Serves coffee, tea, cakes and soup. Confirmed closed, Dec 2017.
The Café really is a hidden treasure in Köln Kalk. Its a cozy cafe in a side street of the main road in Kalk. There are a variety of super delicious cakes - definitely worth a visit!
Really cool place in Kalk, a multi-cultural area of Cologne, outside the city centre.
The muffins were great, the vegan hot chocolate and capuccino, too. They also served a lentil soup when I was there that looked and smelled very promising.
They also have vegan magazines and alternative newspaper to read (in German of course). It's a nice place to chill. I'll come back!
The deserts were inexpensive and very delicious. We had a rasberry pie and rasberry chocolate mouse cake that were freshly made. Much better than what we had at another restaurant that day. The owner was super friendly and gave us directions back to the train station. There were many locals which is always a good sign. If in Stuttgart, we will definitely go back.
This is a small and hidden little pearl. they sell good coffee for about two euro and excellent vegan cake for about three euro a piece. The only thing you can complain about is that the slices are not any bigger.
If you are not from köln, it is also an oppertunity to experience a nice neighbourhood that you would otherwise not go to.
Kalk is becoming quite the vegan Viertel with Trash Chic and now 2 places in Josephskirchstr - Cafe Fatsch is really small and cute - just like someones living room with all sorts of sofas and armchairs and tables. It seems very child friendly as there are lots of toys and games there for little ones. The people there are really friendly, we were a little too early for their lunch which was going to be curry but they got us some nice drinks and offered some veggie pie which we took and really enjoyed. They also showed us all the different cakes they have which is really a lot. We tried and chocolate one and it was really amazing. We hung out here for a long time afterwards and it is a really cool place to come too and while away sometime with a book and tea and yummy sweet things. Really pleased a cooperative like this is happening in Kalk
