Amazing vegan sweets! - Edit
I love to go to cafe Bonheur in Hongu, the owner told me that her sister also started a vegan cafe and I was so excited !! Had some of her (Bonte’s) vegan sweets at Bonheur and loved it!! She said that their grandpa was an a big Gourmand and an amazing chef... so as their mom, her sis and herself!! What a fortunate family!!!

Remote location a welcome for vegetarians and vegans. - Edit
Nakahechi-San was incredibly friendly and so surprised and delighted to learn about Happy Cow. Her daughter has a similar “sister” restaurant near Kumano Taisha Shrine called Bonheur. Minimal spoken english here happy to learn and english menu is available. Basic vegan and vegetarian lunch sets available like sandwiches and curry. Vegan parfait and sweets are amazing! Some items have egg, milk and butter but are well labeled. Nice warm, antique and rustic atmosphere. Due to local regulations she is not allowed to advertise on the main road, so follow the Happy Cow map carefully as she is off the main highway. Parking in front of restaurant. Spacious inside. Sit near the hand crafted wood stove and try the cafe latte!
