Not Very Vegan-Friendly

Similar to the previous review, I agree that Cafe 21 is a cool spot but not intended for vegans. The options were minimal, and it was also expensive to me for what it was. The few vegan options were boring (imo!), and the drinks seemed overpriced enough that I did not purchase one. Also one of the vegan options is not even vegan as there are no modifications available but it has honey… Further, we sat outside, which we chose, but there were many bugs (to the point the table next to us left). Normally, this would not bother me, but it disrupted my friend and I’s ability to hold a conversation—not sure what the restaurant could do about this, though. I think this kind of brunch spot is just not for me, so maybe others would enjoy their visit, but I would much rather spend the time and money at one of the many better spots for vegans in the area.

Cool ambiance but not great for vegans

This place has a nice atmosphere but it's not great for vegans. There's 4 menu options labeled vegan but only 3 are actually vegan since one of the "vegan" options contains honey and cannot be modified. The 3 options tasted ok but didn't contain any protein so I left feeling really unsatisfied.

They really stress that the dishes are meant to be shared but each menu item is priced as if it is meant for a single person.

Definitely going back!

It is probably my favorite of the places I visited in San Diego. I love the setting of the restaurant, and the Avocado cake was a 10/10.

great veg / vegan options

really prompt service, great food and drinks, and tons of options for everyone.

Pros: price point, menu items clearly marked veg / vegan, great atmosphere

Cons: limited parking
