Delicious and reasonably priced

The staff prepared the vegan set menu with a variety of dishes including two rice balls and miso soup. It’s super delicious and filling. The vegan apple cake is so good. Staff is very friendly.

Simple and delicious food, quiet and relaxing atmosphere

I found out about this shop when I was having dinner at another vegan restaurant in town (L'Esperance). There was a man delivering vegetables to the restaurant and we talked to him and found out that he is an organic farmer and also his wife runs an onigiri cafe that has vegan options. Of course, hearing this, we had to go check it out!

So the next day, we went to Cafe 178 and asked about their vegan options. We were pleasantly surprised that there were several kinds of vegan-friendly onigiri and they were even able to make the miso soup and some side dishes vegan for us.

They are open pretty early and have a breakfast and a lunch menu.

Most of the sweets on the menu are not vegan (ice cream, etc.) but they sell vegan muffins, cookies, etc. that you can also take out. We got several to take with us to enjoy at various times during our trip in Hokkaido whenever we got hungry and needed a snack.

The atmosphere of the shop was really pleasant and the taste of the food was excellent! Some of the best onigiri I have ever had. I definitely want to go again next time I'm in Sapporo. It's located quite close to the "Shiroi Koibito" Amusement park. So, if you're in the area, this is a convenient place to come for breakfast or lunch!

Pros: open early, delicious food, friendly and accommodating

Cons: not everything is vegan, so be sure to ask
