An excellent B and B with such great hosts! - Edit
We found Bulleigh Barton Manor listed here on Happy Cow during our search for a vegan-friendly B&B in Devon. We read the only review on this site and it is very positive so we booked. We were not disappointed! Everything the previous reviewer said it true! We contacted Liz, the host, ahead of our booking and she asked about our preferences for non-dairy milks. When we arrived at Bulleigh Barton Manor we were greeted warmly and shown to our room, the Willow Room, which was lovely, very clean and well appointed, as was the ensuite bathroom. Liz had provided generous slices of vegan banana bread which was a delicious and a welcome treat on arrival. On subsequent evenings we found generous slices of a sumptuous vegan chocolate cake with chocolate avocado frosting and a very tasty vegan iced spiced cake. Each evening Liz gave us breakfast menus which included many vegan options. The fresh fruit salads, the full vegan breakfasts, the porridge, the Herby Mushrooms on Toast, were all exceptionally well prepared and appetizingly presented in generous portions. Excellent coffee, too! We learned that Liz also provides a special breakfast for dogs, the proceeds from which are all donated to nearby local animal shelter "Animals in Distress Rescue Centre", also located in Ipplepen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bulleigh Barton Manor and have no hesitation in recommending it. We look forward to returning next year! Grateful thanks to wonderful host, Liz!

An oasis in a Vegan desert - Edit
From our first email exchange with Liz we knew that we were headed somewhere special. We are a hotelier's guests from hell!! - we are hard core Vegans and we travel with our dog. Not only did Liz take great pains to accommodate us she went extra miles for us well over and beyond any expectations we may have had. The pre-arrival information was exemplary, the welcome was warm and inviting and Liz had, unbidden, rung round local eating places to find somewhere that could cater for our first night evening meal and having found it called to ask if we would like a table booked in case they were full should we just turn up - wonderful. She also had other eating suggestions for us to consider for our other evening meals while staying at Bulleigh Barton. A welcome cup of tea was offered on arrival over which Liz took a great deal of time and consideration discussing what we would like for our Vegan breakfasts - which were wonderful. If that was not enough there are doggie hamper full of treats and a separate dog's breakfast menu in the rooms. Our room was excellent and bath robes and house slippers were available for our use in the wardrobe. Everything is considered here for making your stay comfortable and inviting. The breakfasts are taken communally round the large dining table in front of a roaring log fire, the sitting room is lovely and looks out onto the bucolic setting that the manor house sits in with lovely grounds to roam round with, or without, your dog. All in all a great experience and a stay there again will be a must for our next visits to south Devon.
