The hummus is great - Edit
We had the vegetarian set menu. The hummus was a highlight, each dish that came out was delicious. Only one dish was not to our liking which had blood orange. The pricing for the amount of food was very good. The staff were very attentive and gave suggestions when we wanted to substitute a dish from the vegetarian set menu with a dish from the vegan menu. The only gripe we had would have to be the cocktails, they were a bit overpriced.

Inventive and delicious - Edit
Love Bubala. Regular standouts are the topped hummus, flatbreads, pickles, mushroom skewers and kohlrabi. Always some interesting seasonal additions, particularly the salads. Cocktails great too.

We went for the mezze menu. Absolutely incredible flavour combos, everything was so delicious I couldn’t ask for a better meal 🥹 the amount of dishes and use of vegetables in each one made it so lovely !

Hummus and flatbread to die for - Edit
So incredibly delicious! The humus was flavoursome and the flatbread was also tasty. A small restaurant which was very busy! I’ll definitely return.

Fantastic flavours - Edit
Well that was all excellent! Wonderful little plates of food to share, with vibrant flavours. Seriously delicious. Really friendly staff as well.
Read moreJust make sure you book ahead, because it's a very small and very popular place.
Update: I came back four years later during a quick London trip, and am very glad to report they are still going strong and the food is still amazing. Fantastic creativity and flavours. Unfortunately they no longer have the grapefruit ezme, which I remember from when they first opened and would have loved to try again.
The concept has changed a little, in the evenings there is now only a set menu. While the selection is great, this does mean committing to a rather pricy and HUGE amount of food. The falafel was the only thing that wasn't quite as outrageously good as everything else (still fine, though). Regardless of these few tiny points for improvement, I am leaving my 5* intact because this is absolutely one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Highly recommended.

Delicious middle eastern vegan - Edit
The restaurant offers a sharing menu that has generous portions. The hummus, mushroom skewers and the falafels were incredible. Also, nice atmosphere, a busy room that still feels intimate.

Friendly place, tasty food. - Edit
The place is cosy so best to reserve a spot. We had a nice table in the window. Servers were very helpful, friendly and attentive. The menu is a little complex so nice to have recommendations about how much to order. There is a vegan or vegetarian mezze plate but at 29 pounds per person seemed a little steep. We ordered a number of starter dishes, hummus, flatbread, oyster mushroom skewers etc. Vegan options are clearly labelled. All the food was tasty and enjoyable. We ordered some fudge to follow up with - 4 pounds for 3 small cubes of fudge. Fudge was only ok. So overall we ( party of 4) enjoyed our lunch but found it a little expensive even for London standards.

Very disappointing - Edit
Wouldn’t recommend for vegans.
Read moreThe hummus and flatbread was lovely but the rest of the meal didn’t live up to it. When I’m paying £9.50 for three bits of aubergine I need it to be really special and it wasn’t. Falafel was not great either. Server also recommended me to over-order so I couldn’t finish my meal and left uncomfortably full.
Pros: Hummus , Flatbread
Cons: Expensive , Vegan food not very nice, Encouraged to over order and waste food

Never fails to disappoint - Edit
One of my favourite restaurants. I have had the vegan mezze and each time it has been delicious. The service is amazing and really well timed between each course. I have been both at lunch and dinner, lunch was more relaxed and we were seated at a table and dinner was at the bar, which was still a very enjoyable experience.

Standard Middle Eastern food, but very well done. - Edit
They have a vegan mezze menu. The dishes are relatively standard choices (humus, aubergine, bread, falafel) but it’s very well done.

Mezze style, sharing plates - Edit
Bubala offers either a vegan or vegetarian sharing menu at £39 per person. I went with omni colleagues so the staff made a mix of vegan and vegetarian dishes. We liked the first plates best, the dips, bread and pickles were delicious. The rest of our dishes we thought were pretty nice. The chicory and water crest salad was a great addition to break up the palate, some of the dishes were a bit salty or sauce heavy so the inclusion of that fresh break was lovely. The dishes were creative and we all left completely stuffed (it's a ton of food).

Small plates are the star - Edit
I enjoyed the bread and dips ie the hummus and beetroot...but I ate too much...think this didn't leave me enough room to really appreciate the other small plates and I didn't even have a bigger dish.
Read moreThe falafel, aubergine and were gorgeous though and there were some lovely crispy potatoes so if you are a fan of the small plates and middle Eastern fare I think you will enjoy here. The staff made us feel really comfortable.
Sadly forgot to take more than a couple of pictures.

Cons: Bit pricey, Easy to overfill on dips

Loved the set vegan menu, plenty of options and all food comes out in a nice order. However felt a bit rushed as each course would straight after the next.

A whole vegan set menu! Unspeakably delicious food. All sharing plates and the food kept coming and coming like there was no end! I was happily stuffed. The staff was utterly endearing. Also, they have a wonderful selection of biodynamic wines. Loved the decor too! Best restaurant in London I’ve been to.

One of the better ones in London - Edit
They have 2 set menus: vegetarian & vegan. In the a la carte menu, vegan items are marked (vg), items that can be made vegan upon request are marked as well.
Read moreWe attended their 1 year birthday where they provided a special vegan set menu made in collaboration with SomSaa (Thai restaurant) chefs, so this is a preliminary review.
The food was Middle Eastern-Thai fusion, an unusual combination, which was well done and very creative. The sparkling wine was good too.
The venue is nice and we are looking forward to try their regular menu.

Delicious Levantine flavours - Edit
A meal here is mezze style, typically 7 or so small plates, and that gives you a fantastic sampling of delicious and diverse Levantine (i.e. middle Eastern and Mediterranean) flavours. Every dish we had was perfectly balanced, and each very different from the other. Among other things, the confit latke was amazing...
