Fine dining

Monday lunchtime. Special occasion. Unusual and interesting vegan menu. We tried the beetroot starter. Delicious, very light. Fermented barley starter, peculiar taste but I haven't had fermented grains before (a more substantial starter and warm). I had stuffed leek main. Artistic. Tasty. Very light. Pudding was described as peach, blood orange and gingerbread. It wasn't any of these. It was sorbet on crunchy crumbs. Very tasty. We shared a side order of veg. Sides were recommended and we were advised that it was more of a tasting menu. Previous tasting menus I have had have had more courses. They should consider this or alternatively offer bread at the start and/or veg and potatoes with the main. We were hungry the whole way through. Side orders weren't listed on the menu so we didn't know what extra cost was incurred and given that a glass of wine was £8 I thought two or three sides might be excessive. I also do not really think, in principle, that set menus should require extra sides if you purchase all three courses. We do appreciate the craftsmanship and effort that went into devising the menu and prepare the dishes and their ingredients. Definitely go here and support them in their venture but order a few side dishes and don't consider less than three courses or don't turn up too hungry. We went elsewhere for a coffee and vegan sweet to feel satisfied. We did like the fact that the dishes were plant based rather than just vegan. I would definitely revisit.

Pros: Carefully crafted plant ingredients, Unusual tastes and ingredients, Nice ambience and friendly staff

Cons: Tiny portions, Expensive

Tasty but small portions!

Was impressed that Brunels had a separate Vegan menu with quite a few options but unfortunately portions are very small - especially in comparison to non vegan options. Servers are knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately only 1 of the 4 listed vegan desserts were available which was quite disappointing. Would try again and hopefully get some more food!

Pros: Tasty, Separate Vegan menu, Service

Cons: Small portions , Expensive related to portions , Not all options available
