Serves meat, vegan options available. Restaurant in a hotel that offers a few vegan items such as carrot hummus, burger, super salad, and vegan ice cream. Open Mon-Sun 07:00-22:00.
Had stayed here in the past and felt well accommodated for. Beautiful location, lovely receptionists and nice rooms. This review is purely about food and attitude of staff on visit in April 2024. Rooms >£200 a night so expected a high level of attention to detail. Had mentioned vegan when booking but snacks in room all contained dairy, somewhat expected but a shame.
Menu online had well marked, creative vegetable based vegan options. In reality, nothing on menu marked vegan. When asked what could be adapted staff seemed panicked. There's nowhere nearby to go so if you're not driving ( we were walking) so you're locked in once there really. Starter - there was an underwhelming small cucumber/kiwi slices starter. We asked for bread with oil and vinegar instead of butter and they gave us I think rapeseed oil and white wine vinegar which was weird and kind of gross.
Main - told could have haggis without the neeps & tatties (no substitute offered) or a moving mountains burger. Burger itself was fine, stale bun (maybe GF bun!? Weird choice if so as MM burger not GF) a few chips and no other accompaniments. No dessert/coffees/drinks offered after dinner.
Breakfast included in room rate was really tragic. One sausage, one dried out mushroom, half a tomato, a spoonful of spinach and small ramekin of beans. No margarine offered for toast. They were able to produce some soya milk for coffee.
Get the impression the chef hates vegans as it all felt a bit punishing.
Sadly when we booked in for dinner they had just changed the menu and all the lovely vegan options we had saw online had been taken off. All that was left was a vegan burger so if you don't like plant based meats it's chips and salad! Probably wise to call before booking to check what will be available (we wish we had as we could have had lovely vegan food in our B&B instead)

Yummy - Edit
There are three vegan options on the menu including the ubiquitous vegan burger. I had the superfood salad. Delicious. Highly recommend
