Very good vegan fast food - Edit
I came here with a handful of friends, we all ordered something different. When the food came everything looked and smelled amazing. I ordered “whatever is most popular”, which was the black eyed bean burger (I think). Very tasty, great sauces in good proportion. Next time I go I’ll try one of the biscuits, they look really good… 🍔

Tasty Vegan Fast Food - Edit
This place definitely has a cool atmosphere and it's fun to have a vegan fast food joint for when you're in that sort of mood, though for the price you could certainly find healthier options of a bit better quality nearby. I did enjoy my Cheesesteak (ketchup on it by default was a strange surprise though!) and the sweet potato fries were amazing. Would probably visit again if I'm in the area!

Ugh - Edit
I admit I’m not a huge fan of what I’d call vegan fast food but once in a while I’ll indulge as a guilty pleasure. Was really looking forward to my first meal at BCV but it was not good at all. I got the Philly Cheesesteak and it was like dog food on a wonder bread roll, although that might be unfair since I admit I’ve never actually eaten dog food to my knowledge. Sorry if that’s harsh but I won’t go back. Ever. The folks enjoying this place must have placed the bar very low for vegan cuisine. If I had made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at home, and eaten it over the sink while washing dishes it would have been forty times better.

The Newark location is waaaaay better. The Montclair one does suck for some reason.

Great food & even better vibes :) - Edit
My mom and I came here for our first time tonight and it was delicious! We usually go to veggie heaven but decided to try somewhere new and we were not disappointed. I hope this restaurant sticks around. The staff were so friendly and funny! I’m excited to come back.

Newark location is way better than the Montclair one - Edit
Every time there’s a new vegan restaurant and it’s burgers, my heart sinks a little lol. But Montclair really needed a vegan spot in this area, so it’s great that this popped up.
Read moreOnly four stars for now…I had the black eyed pea burger and the bun was a little stale and there were hard pieces of rice in the patty. I’ve ordered this same thing at their sister location in Newark probably a dozen times and never had this problem. Maybe since it’s new they haven’t figured things out yet?
Also. I found out that the next door Cornbread - which mainly serves dead birds - is owned by the same person…hmmmm….The owner is allegedly plant-based and not vegan, and owns a bunch of non-vegan restaurants 😭 The two restaurants are literally adjacent and I walked into Cornbread by mistake. Well, I guess at least I am thankful for the separate kitchens 😭
Anyway, if you eat here, don’t miss BOOMCHIA across the street for dessert, it’s super yummy!
Edit: went back a few more times and the quality of food is just not the same as at their Newark location.

Delicious! - Edit
Went with a friend and we tried the black eyed pea burger and chicken biscuit - both with a side of sweet potato fries. They were both delicious. The chicken patty was very good - much better than what I am used to getting for vegan chicken. The sweet potato fries were thin, crunchy and not at all greasy.

Worth a Try - Edit
I'm always looking for new vegan spots, so we gave his one a try. The menu was interesting, and I was happy to see some homemade vegan burgers. We ordered the sweet potato black bean burger, the chicken sandwich, and the BBQ pulled oats sandwich w a side of chickpeas. It did take a really long time for the food to come out, and it appeared they were filling takeout orders first. We patiently waited and finally the food came. Unfortunately, both the pulled oats and the chicken were served on biscuits that were thick and so crisp they fell apart with every bite. The biscuit was big, so there were very little pulled oats, but it was very tasty. The chickpeas were bland.

Pros: Pulled oats very different , Atmosphere, Great cookbooks on the reading shelf

Their Newark location is so much better. I’ve been to the Montclair one a couple of times and it just isn’t the same as the one in Newark, they always mess something up :(

definitely needs improvement. - Edit
this place is all sorts of chaotic. i walked in to all 5 tables full and nobody had their food (never a good sign). i ordered at the front, but the cashier had me do all the prompts to check out. i’m not familiar with their POS system so i had to scan the screen for a “checkout” button, then click that i was paying with a card, all with her standing there not helping. i asked for sauce on the side instead of on the burger, and was charged for it even though it comes on the burger. the person cooking started making rounds at the tables asking what everyone is waiting for, so everyone had to recite their orders. they don’t have our tabs up back there? then she came back and told someone they don’t have what she ordered. everyone working was moving super slow and the one woman had to explain to the person cooking what ticket numbers and “dine in” means. someone was waiting for their uber eats orders and was complaining about how long it was taking and was snapped at “you’re going to have to wait”. when he finally got the order, he said thank you, and they said to him “don’t come here anymore if waiting is a problem” wtf? only one order was worked on at a time, so only when someone got their food, did they start the next tab. with multiple people you’d think they’d all be working on something different. i think this location is new, so maybe they’re not in the groove of things yet. but this is really not a good start. someone also ordered a sandwich to go (after dining in) and she was given the wrong sandwich. then the sandwich she actually ordered was forgotten about lol. everyone was asking how much longer their food was going to take. this is an order at the counter type of place with limited options, this is supposed to be quick to go food. after i already waited 30mins, i get told they’re waiting for the biscuits to get out of the oven. i only ordered a cheeseburger and chicken biscuit. i got the chicken biscuit without ranch and add avocado, and they put ranch on it and no avocado. this is after they took my receipt back to see what i ordered. i realize if a restaurant is busy it’ll take time and the workers are likely stressed, but they don’t seem stressed or pressed to get food out on time here. everything was very lax. in this economy, eating out is a luxury for a lot of us and there was complete carelessness here. i feel terrible leaving a bad review for an all vegan place, but they will

caution: honey - Edit
I went for the first time and got a bowl (which was fine) and while waiting noticed they had a freezer with boxes of their housemade burgers, decided to peep the ingredients, and saw that one of them (they have 3 types) contains honey - wth! No idea if they may use honey in anything else, ugh...

Omg what! I’ve eaten there once and so many times at the Newark location 😨 not too surprised because the owner isn’t vegan and owns a bunch of carnist restaurants including the nextdoor Cornbread that mainly sells dead birds. Like you can’t even trust a vegan restaurant anymore ugh.
