Reliably good food - Edit
I wasn't as blown away as some of the HappyCow folk who visited here, but it was standard National Trust vegan fare, which is reliable and tasty. I had the bean chilli (served with a piece of bread) and wedges, both lovely. We also tried a selection of the vegan cakes - the fruit scones were the best.

National Trust Now Doing Vegan Food - Edit
It's great to see so many National Trust locations adding vegan food.
Read moreDelaval Hall are better than the others as they list clearly what is vegan. Others have the same items but often not listing them.
The staff are helpful and the options do change every few days
Pros: The spicy cauliflower pasty is great , Friendly staff, A beautiful location
Cons: A bit pricey

I was with my little dog, so the server said she’d join me outside with a list of vegan options.
Read moreI decided on the vegan Gouda sandwich followed by a fruit scone (now vegan). I have my coffee black but they had a range of plant milks.
Pros: Helpful to vegans!
Cons: No vegan sausage baps !

Tales of the Unexpected - Edit
I've been to a few national trust cafes over the years and always left disappointed, so my experience at the brewhouse cafe was not what I was expecting at all. The vegan options were excellent and the quality of the food was superb. No token vegan gestures here I tell you. We ordered the leek and potato soup, curried cauliflower pasty, a summer berries flapjack and a slice of chocolate fudge cake. All of which were clearly labelled. The soup was delicious, creamy and well seasoned with a soft loaf wedge for dipping while the pasty was well spiced and so flavoursome. The flapjack and chocolate fudge cake were very moorish as well and they do a good soya latte. Staff are very friendly and vegan aware and there's a lovely outside seating area, which is where we ate. All this and not a mention of this fabulous National Trust site. Can't wait to return again.
