Best Bar in Poipu with Vegan Options - Edit
We loved Brennecke’s! We ate there a couple of times. The staff is very nice and accommodating. They have vegan options and will even adjust the menu with no problem. They have Beyond Burgers, Edamame, Spicy Brussel Sprouts, Pad Thai and Tabouleh Salad with Quinoa Bowl all as vegan options. The atmosphere is very cool with a sports and NFL Football theme. I liked it so much I even bought a hat! We sat at the bar one time and the staff was super fun.

Great location but… - Edit
… food and drinks were not convincing.
Read moreWe were excited to get a beautiful table with a beautiful view of the evening atmosphere over the water. This place seems to get quite busy.
I would say the Brussel sprout appetizers were the best part of our meal- very well seasoned. I personally thought the Pad Thai was better than expected, however, it did seem very sweet and like it was made with a store-bought chili sauce. The Quinoa bowl was a sad disappointment. Don’t let me get started on the drinks.
I appreciate that they even do offer vegan options and that it is possible to have a full three course meal there (with the mango sorbet, which was actually quite good). However, the quality of the food and drinks just wasn’t convincing and definitely not worth the price. I hope they will get better in the future.

Not a fan - Edit
The vegan items are an afterthought. The quinoa tabbouleh bowl was not at all what the menu described (ingredients missing from what the menu stated, totally different dish) and had probably been sitting in a fridge for a couple days. The veggie wrap (we added Beyond patty) was passable but boring. I don’t recommend coming here if you can get to Leahi or Russell’s instead.

Great Vegan Food - Edit
Brennecke's is a seafood restaurant that has vegan items on its menu. While not plentiful, I am always grateful when there is more than one vegan item. In this case, one has to choose an edamame appetizer (which has a sesame flavoring from the quick stir fry), a vegan pad thai (absolutely delicious with a perfect hint of heat) and a Beyond Burger.
Read moreService was exceptional. Happy hour (3-5 pm) consists of lower-priced appetizers and great drinks.
Update 4-10-2022: Kudos to Brennecke’s! They have added more vegan options- Cauliflower steak (substitute double vegetables for the mashed potatoes which is made with dairy), tofu scramble for brunch, Family grown greens with Tofu, Tabbouleh Quinoa bowl, Veggie Spinach wrap.
The Cauliflower steak is cooked well with a slight al denté consistency over hummus and topped with a delicious hot sauce. I recommend it without reservations.

Beyond Burger on the menu, but non-vegan bun 😟 - Edit
The Beyond Burger was seasoned and cooked well, but since their buns aren't vegan I had it added to the garden salad sans croutons. Ok but not a very filling meal. The only other vegan options were fries, which are cooked in a shared fryer. Could be better.

Ambiance - Edit
This place tries and has Vegan option, if you get a knowledgeable server they will ask the chef to create something, if not to busy. They view is one of the best on Island!

Only one vegan option - Edit
The tortilla wrap with vegetables and hummus is the only vegan option - it was decent. They also have Beyond burger as vegetarian option. Tables have a nice view of Poipu bay.

two vegan entrees - Edit
This restaurant does offer two vegan entrees in an area where it's difficult to find options. We tried one of each and both were very good. However there are no other vegan items on the menu, not even pupus.
